Europa Europa (German title:Hitlerjunge Salomon; Hitler Youth Salomon) is a 1990 German-Polish-French film by Agnieszka Holland. Shortly before the beginning of the war, the Jewish family Perel flees from the Nazis and settles in the Polish Lódz. But the Nazis catch up with them, and in the turmoil of the occupation, the brothers Sally and David are separated from the family and try to make their way into the USSR. The brothers also lose sight of each other. Sally lodges in a Soviet orphanage. After the German invasion, he is captured by Wehrmacht soldiers and pretends to be Volksdeutscher. Sally becomes the darling of the troupe as Josef Periel, becomes a hero, and is even sent to a Nazi elite school.

A Tokarev TT-33 is the duty sidearm of a Soviet Major (Aleksy Awdiejew), who hands it over to a freed KZ inmate.

MP40s are used by a German Feldgendarmerie (Military Police) on the train and some Volkssturm members.
PPSh-41
Soviet Soldiers are armed with PPSh-41. Like the M44 carbine, it is first seen in 1939.
Rifles
Karabiner 98k
Karabiner 98ks are used by German soldiers including Ulmayer (Martin Maria Blau), Robert Kellermann (André Wilms), and the Feldwebel (Sergeant) (Bernhard Howe). Salomon also uses a Kar98k while he pretends to be Josef „Jupp“ Peters. Numerous Hitler Youth and Volkssturm members can also be seen with the carbines.
Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine
Soviet soldiers are mainly armed with Mosin Nagant M44 Carbines which are first seen during the Soviet occupation of Poland in 1939.
Mosin Nagant M91/30
Some full-length Mosin Nagant M91/30 rifles are also used by Soviet soldiers; notably at the end.
Mauser Puška vz. 24
Two German soldiers can be seen with a VZ-24 Czech Mausers. When Salomon is drafted into Volkssturm, he wields this rifle with a Kar98k-style bolt handle.
Mauser Karabiner 98AZ
At least, one Mauser 98AZ Carbine is briefly seen carried by a German soldier.
