El Dorado John Wayne in a story of a sheriff who must defend his office against an aggressive outlaw element in the town. The other two films are 1959's Rio Bravo Rio Lobo John Wayne stars as Cole Thornton, a gunfighter who helps an old friend protect a group of ranchers from a rival who had previously hired Colt. The film's cast includes James Caan , Ed Asner , and Robert Mitchum , whose son Christopher Mitchum would later co-star with Wayne in Rio Lobo Big Jake

The modern revolvers often was used in Westerns filmed in the 1950's - 1960's, when the revolver needed to be fired with the speed required by the script. Usually (but not in this case), the production would disguise the revolvers with a fake ejector rod to make it resemble an SAA.

The shotgun also has a cutdown stock.
