Closer to the Moon is a 2013 Romanian/American comedy that is based on the true story of a 1959 Bucharest bank robbery that was done under the disguise of shooting a film. The cast included Mark Strong, Vera Farmiga, Anton Lesser, Joe Armstrong, Christian McKay and Tim Plester.

The following weapons were used in the film Closer to the Moon:

Pistols

Carpati Md 1974

Though anachronistic for 1958, the Carpati Md 1974 is used by Max Rosenthal (Mark Strong) during the bank robbery and the reconstruction. It is probably a stand-in for the era-correct Walther PPK.
