Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
There are, unfortunately, not so many Western or Soviet animated series and movies on this site, because most of them have schematic or unrealistic weapons due to censorship. To improve this I'd like to start with one of my favorite animated series of all time, 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A t least first season (which only had 5 episodes) should be covered - though animation quality is diverse, many firearms are drawn with real weapons as a basis. I also remember an episode from some other season with a weapon collector, which had some interesting and rare things from real life, actually. So what do others think of it? --Kloga (talk) 15:27, 8 December 2013 (EST)
- The category title, "Anime" should explain why there's a dearth of western and Soviet animation here. I don't think a whole series is eligible just because of one or two episodes. --Funkychinaman (talk) 21:32, 8 December 2013 (EST)
- I would support adding a supercategory "animation" and putting this category in that one, but we really don't have a lot of Western animation articles to require such a thing, and a lot of the ones we do have are pretty dubious. Evil Tim (talk) 22:22, 8 December 2013 (EST)
- An "Animation" category does exist, but mainly to cover animated features. --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:40, 8 December 2013 (EST)
- Huh, didn't even know it existed. I really think we should move this category into that one and have it be the top level cat in the sidebar, then, since all anime is animation by definition. Evil Tim (talk) 22:50, 8 December 2013 (EST)
- An obscure category of Animation is very interesting. I was glad to find Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) there. Now I really know that I should do the 1987 series article. Also, to Funkychinaman, personally - I don't think adding animated series because of a few episodes, which still depict firearms in detail or at least keeping clear that they were based on real ones will take much space, which as far as I concerned is the only reason why we're so restricted. Actually, there will be only a few dozens of proper depictions at all and also a few series which incorporate real footage that have guns (some of my personal favorites, Soviet "Treasure Island" and "Adventures of Captain Vrungel" and American "The Angry Beavers" used this technique not once). --Kloga (talk) 14:12, 9 December 2013 (EST)
- The 2012 TMNT is on thin ice as it is. I used to watch the 1987 series, and aside from the first few episodes, the animation was not great. My concern is that we're eroding standards for the site. It's not like there's nothing else to do, might I suggest one of the 350+ incomplete pages? --Funkychinaman (talk) 14:55, 9 December 2013 (EST)
