Brainscan is a 1994 teen horror/black comedy movie which combines elements of science-fiction sub-genres (such as cyberpunk) with traditional horror sub-genres (such as slasher film). It tells the story of Michael (Edward Furlong), a teenager and high school student, who tries to fight with a murderous videogame "Brainscan" and it's character The Trickster (T. Ryder Smith) while being suspected by police detective (Frank Langella) to be a real murderer.

The film gained cult following because of visuals and ideas and being a unique period piece. It's known especially in rave/electronic music circles (despite film's soundtrack is composed of grunge and hard rock) and cyberpunk fandom.
