Body of Lies is the 2008 feature film adaptation of the novel of the same name written by David Ignatius, an American journalist and author. The espionage thriller was directed by Ridley Scott and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Roger Ferris, a CIA operative working in the Middle East who is determined to locate the leader of a terrorist organization responsible for a series of bombings in Europe. During his search, Ferris is continually under the watchful eye of his ambitious CIA boss Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe, whose role in the film would mark the fourth of five collaborations with the director).
The following weapons were used in the film Body of Lies:
CIA officer Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) uses a Glock 19 as his main sidearm throughout the film. It is most notably seen when he threatens a Jihadist in the Desert.
M1911A1
The M1911A1 is briefly seen in the the hands of Ferris' CIA operative Bassam (Oscar Isaac) briefly during the first desert fight. CIA operative Skip (Vince Colosimo) also carries a 1911.
Heckler & Koch USP Compact
In a deleted scene, Ferris can be seen loading a Heckler & Koch USP Compact in his car. He later draws it on some men who attack him in a bar, thinking he has come 'to spy on Muslim people'.
Browning Hi-Power
One of Hani's men is seen holding a Browning Hi-Power fitted with a suppressor at the trash deposit when Hani thinks that Ferris is lying to him.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The British Specialist Firearms Officers (SFO) who raid the terrorist hideout in Manchester carry Heckler & Koch MP5A3s fitted with tactical flashlights and red dot sights. Some are seen with the Navy trigger group.
Sa vz. 61 Skorpion
Ferris uses a Sa vz. 61 Skorpion with a 20-round magazine during the Al-Saleem safehouse shootout. Ferris also uses his Skorpion to eliminate one of his assets in the city. During this scene, the Skorpion sounded suppressed without a suppressor fitted.
Heckler & Koch MP5K
The Heckler & Koch MP5K is seen used by Hani's men at the end of the movie very briefly.
Assault Rifles
Heckler & Koch G36
The Heckler & Koch G36 is seen briefly in the opening scene where British policemen move into a building in the UK where a terrorist is making a bomb. The rifles have RIS rails on the top of the receiver and have EOtech Holographic sights mounted and flashlights mounted to the side of the barrel. Because the rest of the barrels weren't exposed to light, it is hard to tell if they were full size G36 or Ks. Though the scene was set in the UK, it was actually filmed in the US state of Maryland.
Heckler & Koch G36C
CIA officer Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) uses the Heckler & Koch G36C when he and Bassam are being chased in the desert. The rifle is fitted with the dual optics carrying handle usually seen on the G36K.
M16A2
The M16A2 is seen briefly held by a border station guard.
M4A1
An M4 was briefly seen in the opening scene in the hands of one of the British police Specialist Firearms Officers who raid a terrorist hideout. During the battle scenes in Iraq, US Marines are seen on patrol armed with M4A1s mounted with ACOG and EOTech sights. One of the US Marines has his EOTech sight mounted backwards, apparently mistaken for a reflex sight. US Army soldiers at a checkpoint in Samarra are also armed with the M4A1.
The Norinco Type 56-1 is seen being used by the terrorists that try to take out Ferris and Bassam in the desert.
AKS-74U
Terrorists are seen firing AKS-74U rifles at Nazir as he tries to ride away on his bicycle.
Battle Rifles
M14 Rifle
The M14 is used by Bassam to cover Ferris' entrance to the safehouse. It has synthetic furniture instead of wood.
Sniper Rifles
Accuracy International Arctic Warfare (Airsoft Replica)
A British police sniper provides cover with what appears to be an Accuracy International Arctic Warfare sniper rifle. The weapon appears to actually be an airsoft replica based on the bright silver ejection port, bull barrel with no muzzle brake, lack of a finger cut-out in the magazine well, and the fact that it is never shown firing.
Machine Guns
FN MAG
FN MAG machine guns are seen mounted on the doors of a helicopter gunship that lands to rescue Ferris.
M249 SAW
During the battle scenes in Iraq, one of the US Marines is seen carrying an M249 SAW. US Army soldiers are also seen carrying the SAW.
PKM
A PKM is seen in the background of the Al-Saleem's video.
Browning M2HB
A Browning M2 is seen mounted atop a USMC HMMWV out on patrol.
Other
RPG-7
Terrorists uses RPG-7's during the desert chase to try and take out the attack helicopter. While they miss the helicopter, one of the RPG's is able to hit the car carrying Ferris and Bassam.
