Alatriste
|
Alatriste is a 2006 epic Spanish historical drama war film directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes and starring Viggo Mortensen as Captain Diego Alatriste. It is based on the book series The Adventures of Captain Alatriste (Las aventuras del Capitán Alatriste) by Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte.
The film follows mercenary companion Alatriste and his companions as they seek fortune, glory, and action across war-torn Early Modern Europe during the Dutch Revolt and Thirty Years' War.
The following weapons were used in the film Alatriste:
Pistols
Wheellock Pistol
Diego Alatriste (Viggo Mortensen) uses a Wheellock Pistol as his sidearm. Sebastián Copons (Eduard Fernández) uses another one. French soldiers fire Wheellock Pistols during the final battle.
Flintlock Pistol
Conde de Guadalmedina (Eduardo Noriega) carries two Flintlock Pistols throughout the movie. Gualterio Malatesta (Enrico Lo Verso) gives his Flintlock Pistol to Diego Alatriste (Viggo Mortensen). Sebastián Copons (Eduard Fernández) puts another Flintlock Pistol on the table. Several Flemish soldiers fire Flintlock Pistols at the film's beginning. Invented in roughly 1610, Flintlocks would be very new during the film's setting of the 1620s.
Muskets
Brown Bess Flintlock Musket
King Philip IV of Spain (Simon Cohen) fires a Brown Bess Flintlock Musket while hunting. Conde de Guadalmedina (Eduardo Noriega) holds another one during the same scene.
Matchlock Musket
Nearly all Spanish, Flemish, and French soldiers use Matchlock Muskets. Diego Alatriste (Viggo Mortensen) himself as well as Íñigo Balboa (Unax Ugalde) and Sebastián Copons (Eduard Fernández) also use Matchlock Muskets throughout various battles.
