80 cm Kanone (E)
The 80 cm Kanone (E), often known by its nickname of Schwerer Gustav ("Heavy Gustav"), was an enormous railway gun built by Krupp in Germany during World War II. The gun was so large that it had to be transported in sections, and also could not traverse its gun; tracks had to be specially built at its firing location in a curve in order to allow the gun to aim left or right by moving along the curve. Schwerer Gustav saw action during the siege of Sevastopol, where, among other things, it famously destroyed a defensive fort's ammunition magazine that sat 30 metres underwater and then through another 10 metres of concrete.
A second gun, Dora, was also built, though it's unclear whether this gun was ever fired in anger. Both guns were scuttled near the end of the war to prevent their capture.
