JAG was a military legal drama series that was broadcast on NBC in 1995 for its first season and then was picked up by CBS, where it ran for 9 more seasons. The show primarily dealt with US Navy and Marine lawyers in the Judge Advocate General Corps investigating and prosecuting cases involving military law. It starred David James Elliott as Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr., a naval aviator, who after being diagnosed with night blindness, became a lawyer in the JAG Corps. The executive producer of the show was Donald Bellisario, who created such popular action shows of the 1980s as Magnum, P.I. and Airwolf. In 2003, JAG introduced characters who later would appear in the spinoff show NCIS.
