According to Military Small Arms Of The 20th Century. 7th Edition by Ian V. Hogg and John S. Weeks (Krause Publications, 2000) pg. 187 the Lee-Metford was adopted by the British under the official designation of "Rifle, Magazine, Lee-Metford Mk 1" in 1888. The Lee-Enfield Mk 1 with the Enfield rifling was adopted and sealed in 1895 by the British military. The production of Breaker Morant actually converted some of the later model Lee-Enfields to look like the Mk I. It's my understanding that the Lee-Enfield Mk I was used in the Boer War so there is no way to actually determine which rifle was used in the movie. I'm going to stay with the Lee-Enfield identification. Thanks though. --Jcordell 09:50, 8 July 2011 (CDT)
