Slow West is a British 2015 Western film directed by John Maclean and starring Kodi Smit-McPhee as a young Scotsman Jay Cavendish in search for his lost love in the Wild West and Michael Fassbender as a bounty hunter Silas Selleck who accompanies Cavendish. The film was awarded the Sundance Institute's World Cinema Jury Prize: Dramatic Winner at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.
The following weapons were used in the film Slow West:
Silas Selleck (Michael Fassbender) carries a Single Action Army "Cavalry" Model revolver throughout the movie. SAA Cavalry revolvers are also seen in hands of Rose Ross (Caren Pistorius), bounty hunters Payne (Ben Mendelsohn), The Kid (Michael Whalley), Marimacho (Madeleine Sami) and Skelly (Eddie Campbell), Swedish robber Johan (Karl Willetts), and two former Union soldiers (Hayden Frost and Kieran Charnock). Unlike other Cavalry revolvers in the film, The Kid's gun has nickel plated frame and barrel and blued cylinder. All revolvers are most likely modern replicas.
Pistols
Remington 1866 Derringer
During the robbery, commited by the Swedish couple, Johan's spouse Maria (Brooke Williams) is armed with a Remington 1866 Derringer.
Winchester Model 1873 Short Rifles are seen in hands of the Union Officer (Jeffrey Thomas) and the adventurer robber Werner (Andrew Robertt).
Winchester Model 1892 Short Rifle
In the scenes in Ross' house, Rose Ross (Caren Pistorius) takes an anachronistic Winchester Model 1892 Short Rifle. This rifle is also seen in hands of a Native American called Kotori (Kalani Queypo) who protects Ross' house.
Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
Kotori's (Kalani Queypo) own rifle is a Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine with half-magazine (a feature more common for M1892 short rifles than for carbines but this particular gun has the saddle ring).
Sharps 1874 Long Range
A Sharps 1874 Long Range rifle is used by the bounty hunter Victor the Hawk (Edwin Wright).
Enfield Pattern 1853
Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) holds a military style percussion cap musket or rifled musket on a number of production images of the set of Jay's flashbacks in Scotland. Enfield Pattern 1853 seems to be the best guess. These scenes were probably cut from the final theatrical version of the film (and the director's cut is unavailable).
Shotguns
Single Barreled Coach Gun
The trader Josh McKenzie (Ken Blackburn) uses a Single Barreled Coach Gun when confronting Johan and Maria. Similar looking gun is seen in Werner's vagon.
Double Barreled Shotgun
Jay Cavendish (Kodi Smit-McPhee) holds a Double Barreled Shotgun on a production image of the set of a scene that wasn't included in the theatrical release.
