Vietcong Fist Alpha Expansion Pack (2004)

Vietcong is a tactical first-person shooter video game (Pterodon & Illusion Softworks). It was released in March 2003, and set during the Vietnam War. It is both single and multi user platform and is PC based.


The following list contains all the weapons that can be used in the original Vietcong and its expansion pack, Fist Alpha:




Handguns

Colt M1911A1

Standard U.S. pistol since the World War 1. Rare see it used by U.S. Army soldiers in single player but is the most common equipment in U.S. multiplayer classes.

.38 Revolver

Described into the game as a chinese copy of some Colt revolver (probably a Mod.1910). Is the main handgun of the VietCong; particularly prevalent in the tunnel levels, is quiet accurate but slow to reload and once to fire. In multiplayer is used by "Medic" class in both team

Smith & Wesson Mark 22 Model 0 (S&W 39)

Seen with silencer, and recalled "Hush Puppy", in game share the same .45ACP ammunition of the Mod.1911 instead of the real 9x19 NATO/Parabellum.

Tokarev TT-33 (Tokarev)

Standard siderarm of the North Vietnam Army aside the Chinese copy Type 54. Not so easy to find in standard single player campaign, in "Fist Alpha" is more common. Also is a standard equipment of "Fighter" and "Sapper" VietCong classes in multiplayer.

Makarov PM (Makarov)

Another Soviet pistol. Instead of a realistic 8 round clip, in game this pistol got a 9 round clip. Like the TT-33 is not so common in single player, in multiplayer is equipped to "Machinegunner", "Sniper" and "Radioman" classes. Vietnamese fighter have used bot Soviet and Chinese (Type 58) models.

Submachine Guns

M3 A1 Grease Gun (US-M3)

U.S. machine pistol. In the single player campaign is often used by Local Viet Cong fighters.

Thompson M1-A1 (M1 Thompson)

U.S. main submachine gun, the first selecteble automatic weapon, widely used by us soldier in single player campaign. Its main characteristics are the high fire rate, te good stopping power and the short reload time.

Sten Mk. IIS

This weapon is fitted with a sound suppressor; available in the Fist Alpha expansion

PPSh-41

Soviet sub-machinegun with large capacity drum magazine. Used mainly by VietCong, but sontime can be seen also used by NVA officer.

PPS-43

Samopal Vzor 1961 or Vz.61 (Skorpion)

A compact Checkoslovakian weapon with an high fire rate and easily in full auto, due the reaction of the 7,65x17 Browning cartridge. Available in the Fist Alpha expansion.

Note: the name "Skorpion" or "Scorpion" was created only as after-market term used after the '90 to indicate both the SA 361 machine pistol and the SA 91s civilian pistol

Rifles

Winchester M1 (M1 Carbine)

Widely used by the ARVN soldiers and sometimes by VietCong fighters, fitted with a detacheble M1 knife bayonette

Colt M16-A1 (M16)

Main U.S. Army assault rifle, fitted with a detacheble M7 knife bayonette. In game this rifle uses 20 round magazines loaded with 18 rounds: that was really made to avoid jamming in the first model of this rifle.

Springfield Armory M14 (M14 Rifle)

Available only in the Fist Alpha expansion, also fitted with an ART optical sight and used by U.S. Army sniper

Springfield Armory M1D (M1 Garand)

The scoped M1D variant is the standard U.S. Army sniper rifle in the original game

Winchester Model 70

A .30'06 caliber bolt-action hunting rifle, inserted in game without scope. In the Vietnam War this rifle was often used by U.S. Army and US Marine Corp sniper (like the legendary Carlos N. Hathcock)

Simonov SKS-45 (SKS rifle)

Soviet battle rifle with non-detacheble 10 round magazine, reloadeble only if totally empty. Fitted with a under-barrel folding spike bayonette. Used by VietCong fighter and North Vietnam Army (NVA) soldier.

Kalashnikov AK-47 (AK-47)

Tokareve AVT-40 (SVT-40)

Available only in Fist Alpha expansion, also fitted with a PU optical sight and used by Regional Vietcong sniper. Strangely is equipped with a 20 round magazine and it had the capability to fire in full automatic mode, more likely an AVT-40.

Mosin Nagant Mod.1891/38 (Mosin Nagant)

WW2 military bolt-action rifle, used by Local VietCong sniper and fighter

Dragunov SVD-63 (SVD Dragunov)

Soviet-made designated marksman rifle, fitted with a PSO-1 4x optcal sight and a detacheble AK-47 Type 1 knife bayonette. Rare to see in Single player, is strangely possible to see it equipped at a ARVN marksman during a mission. Heavy damage, rapid fire capability and high precision made this rifle one of the most deadly weapons of the game.

Machine Guns

Saco Defence M60 (M60)

U.S. general purpose machinegun. The only U.S. portable machinegun also called "the hog". Heavy and affected by a wild recoil, is the main weapon of the Stg. Hornster. All the models see in game have bipod and front-sight removed. Is possible use it also as a support-mounted weapon in some levels.

First version of the M60

Degtyarev DP-28 (DP-2)

Old drum-feeded light machinegun added in "Fist Alpha", with great accuracy problem and hevy recoil. Used only by Local VietCong units.

Degtyarev RPD (Degtyarev)

Main vietnamese machinegun, more accurate than the U.S. M60. Sometimes the mission objectives includes the silent elimination of vietnamese machinegunners on elevate positions, before some counpound assault.

Vzor 37 or Zbrojovka Brno 53 (ZB37)

Checkoslovakian medium machinegun mounted on tripod. Used by Regional VietCong in "Fist Alpha"

Browning M2HB

U.S. heavy machinegun, mounted on the M151 Jeep, UH-1 Huey and at bunkers)

Other Weapons

Remington 870

One of most famous pump-action shotgun in the world. The version in game had a 7 cartridge magazine but alike the models used in Vietnam the stock and the forehand built in plastic instead of the normal wood. In the SP Campaign is often used by the ARVN pointman Le Duy Nut. In multiplayer is deadly at short distance but in great areas and on long distance maybe unusefull.

Baikal IZH-43

A Russian double-barrelled side-by-side hunting shotgun, can fire wiht one shot per time or both together. Rare in single player, and likely the U.S. counterpart, in multiplayer is used only in close combat or for a personal "challange" (due its short range, the small "clip" and the long reload time)

M26 (Grenade)

A U.S. fragmentation grenade, copied by many NATO Countries. The real grenade have different shape, more long than the in game one.

Chicom Type 67 Stick Grenade (VC Grenade)

A Chinese stick hand grenade, based on the German Stielhandgranate, widely imported and used by VietCong and NVA.

Springfield Armory M79

A top-break single-shot grenade launcher. Used to cover the intermediete distance between the hand grenade trow and the light mortar shots. Useble only in single player, in very few missions.


Booby Trap

A improvised mine used by VietCong to kill or hound U.S. Army and ARVN troops. In sigle player they can be deactivated by cutting their activation wire. In multiplayer only "Engeenier" or "Sapper" class can place the booby traps, and is impossible deactivate them, but they can be blow out shooting on them.

M18A1 Claymore

A U.S. remote cotrolled mine.It had a low exploson radius, but shoot on his front area a great number of steel pellets. In game is used only in multiplayer by "Engeenier" or "Sapper" class.
