Am I thinking that in this timeline, the G3 wouldn't exist in its current form because they won the war and the 7.62 was not forced upon NATO by the US. I think the Germans would have refined the kurz round in the STG44s and would have replaced all frontline bolt action rifles with those guns and later the G3 would be more like the G33 series but instead of 5.56, it'd be a German round. I'm thinking the CAL might be a thin since Belgium is under NAZI rule and all their weapon designs would have fallen into German hands

I also think that the Japanese would have eventually adopted a rifle like the Garand and before they lost, they were interested in a repeating rifle and had several prototypes, including one based on the Garand but chambered in their caliber.
