Lone Survivor is an upcoming 2013 war drama directed by Peter Berg (Battleship). Based on the best-selling book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by former U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Luttrell, who was a member of an ill-fated SEAL reconnaissance team that was ambushed in the mountains of northeastern Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005. The film also stars Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana, and is set for a limited release on December 27, 2013 with a wider release on January 14, 2014.
The following weapons were used in the film Lone Survivor:
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
What appears to be a Beretta 92FS pistol can be seen in a SEAL's waistband holster. This is rather inaccurate, as SEALs carry the SIG-Sauer P226 Navy and Heckler & Koch Mk 23 Mod 0 as their sidearms.
Rifles
Colt M4A1 Carbine
Michael P. Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) and other U.S. Navy SEALs use M4A1 carbines with a variety of attachments.
Mk. 12 Mod 1 SPR
Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg) and Matthew Axelson (Ben Foster) are both armed with the Mk. 12 Mod 1 Special Purpose Rifle. Luttrell's rifle features a solid stock while Axelson's has a collapsible stock, but both rifles have suppressors, Harris bipods, AN/PEQ-2 IR designators and Leupold MR/T scopes.
AKM
Some of the militants who attack the SEAL recon team are armed with AKM rifles.
AKS-47
Other militants are seen firing what appear to be AKS-47 rifles.
Machine Guns
PKM
A militant fires a PKM while attacking the SEAL recon team.
Dillon Aero M134 Minigun
A Dillon Aero M134 Minigun can be seen mounted to a HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter.
Browning M2HB
Browning M2HB machine guns can be seen on Humvee roof mounts.
Other
M203A1 Grenade Launcher
Murphy and Dietz both have M203A1 grenade launchers mounted to their M4A1 carbines.
Type 69 RPG
Militants use Chinese Type 69 RPG launchers.
M230 Chain Gun
AH-64 Apaches mounted with 30mm M230 Chain Guns are also seen in the film.
M102 105mm Howitzer
An AC-130 gunship bombards the militants with a M102 howitzer while providing suppressing fire for the beleaguered SEAL team.
General Dynamics GAU-12/U
The AC-130 is also armed with a General Dynamics GAU-12/U 25mm cannon.
Bofors 40mm L/60
The AC-130 is also armed with a Bofors 40mm L/60 cannon.
