Battleship is a 2012 American science fiction film directed by Peter Berg (The Kingdom) and is loosely based on the famous Hasbro board game. The film follows US naval forces as they must repel an alien invasion that has begun from the Pacific Ocean. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, and Liam Neeson and was made with the cooperation of the Department of Defense and the US Navy, and several scenes were filmed aboard active US Navy destroyers and aircraft carriers.

M240 GPMG
An M240 machine gun is seen being fired from the John Paul Jones.
Nearly all the ships in the film can be seen fitted with Phalanx CIWS (Close In Weapons System) installations. When the alien ships launch an attack, the USS John Paul Jones is seen using the Phalanx to defend against the incoming projectiles.

The M61 Vulcan can be seen as the secondary weapon of Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18 Hornets that engage the aliens.
