Image upload issue

It seems like you got it to work? Let me know if you're still having a problem. bunni 01:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Post the image you are trying to upload on my page and I will give it a shot. bunni 19:12, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

A-Team episode names

Italics are usually reserved for the actual title of the movie or show. I believe that the standard is to put the episode names in quotation marks. It would be great if you can also put what season and possibly the episode number, i.e. Season 3's "Sheriffs of Rivertown" (S3E10) (meaning season 3, episode 10). --Ben41 08:39, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

forum

Activation should not take more than one day at the MOST. Try again and let me know. I will then shoot a message off to Bunni to see what is wrong. If possible, track every step you take (and note it) to see if there is some sort of glitch. MoviePropMaster2008 17:28, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

A-Team Screencaps

I gotta admit it. I"m seriously digging the A-team screenshots you've been uploading. They look GREAT!!!!! MoviePropMaster2008 05:12, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

JOTR

Hi, I'm the creator of the page, thanks for your work on the page. Good work with the screencaps and the formatting. However it would have been better if you broke the joined images and showed them separately.--SB2296 15:41, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Reupping a-team image

Thanks for your hard work with the A-Team images (yours are better quality). Just one minor correction: can you redo this one so that both Hannibal and Face are facing the same way? That's the way I had it before. Thanks.

Also, you had a question regarding why a page is ranked a particular way. I believe it's because of the number of guns that are listed for the particular show (24 should be the number one television page because it has 8 seasons' worth of guns and Miami Vice should be 2nd because of its numerous seasons. Go ahead and reorganize the Stargate SG-1 if you want (it really needs it.) --Ben41 00:54, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

SG-1

If your screencaps are better than mine, by all means. Excalibur01 17:13, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

kingdom reverts

I reverted the picture of Sykes because I also linked the shot to the Chris Cooper page and the new one blocked his face. Also, the new ones were little darker and the detailing was not as visible. That's usually the reason why I brighten my screenshots. If you also notice, my screenshots are a little higher in resolution (I took them directly from the DVD using VLC player). I also noticed that your screenshot of the MP5 had some "artifacts" on it (meaning there's square blocks in the darker portions). What I do is save them first as PNG's and then convert them to JPG's to retain the resolution. --Ben41 22:14, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Take a look at the Chris Cooper page. I had linked that shot of the HK91, and the new one obscured his face. If you still want to have that particular image there, what you can do is upload your shot as a new screenshot. Are you using VLC as your screengrabber? If so, you can tweak the settings to brighten the image. I find that using VLC tends to make the video a little darker if you don't do anything to it. --Ben41 05:55, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Using photoshop

I have photoshop, too and it would be great if I were only doing 3 or 4 pictures at a time. Since I usually cap at least 20-30 pictures per movie, I like to start out with a good uncompressed image first and then convert it to JPG. I use a program called Fast Stone (it's free) that allows me to simple cropping and color correction in addition to PNG conversion. I can also do them in batches at once. --Ben41 05:59, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Most of your images are fine (A-Team and Stargate), it's just on the Kingdom that I noticed the compression problem. Also, do you plan on overwriting these screencaps?

and the ones in the RPG section? I was planning on redoing them so that the entire page is more uniform, but if you are already working on it, then go ahead. --Ben41 06:09, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Voyager edits

Would you please quit blanking the Kimel AP9 section of the Star Trek: Voyager page? Blank sections with no info makes the overall quality of the page suffer, so either correct the info or remove that section entirely. Orca1 9904 17:26, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Hogan's Heroes

Good start on the page! If you can, could you please include some screenshots of the main characters (such as Bob Crane and Richard Dawson) holding weapons? This is so we can include them on future actor pages. Thanks. --Ben41 05:41, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

As for the Bob Crane picture, I'd still upload it, but I would rather see a regular picture of him for his actor page (when there's info for one). --Ben41 21:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Posting a copy of every screencap you make on your user page

Though I know you're proud and you do beautiful screenshots ;) but I gotta tell ya, that's gonna get REALLY cumbersome (and slow down your page) when you get to the point of having uploaded THOUSANDS of screencaps like some of the veteran members of IMFDB LOL! ;) Just a note :) BTW, great job on the caps for Hogans Heroes. Just don't use the picture of the airsoft Luger P08. We're trying to delete that one, but we have to fix all the pages that link to it. The Luger at the top of the P08 page was a blank adapted gun from an armory that provided weapons to 1960s television shows. The fellow who owned it quipped that it was used in an episode of Hogan's Heroes, but since that could not be verified I did not describe it as such. So it's probably better to use a weapon that in all likelihood was used on the show versus an Airsoft picture :) Thanks. MPM2008

Front page

I don't deal with the front page much, ask MT2008 or Gunmaster45 or Alienqueen11. I have never made a modification to the roster of featured pages in the past. Ask these other mods, because they have made changes and can help. MoviePropMaster2008 07:35, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

It's usually Ben41 or I that deal with the front page. Any user can add an article to the front page. We were both adding and changing them before we became adims. Copy one of them from here Template:FeaturedArticle (or even one already on the talk page) then take it to the talk page where you change the screencaps and makes sure it looks right and satisfactory before going on the main page. If you need help just ask.--Predator20 12:29, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Front page cont.

A certain amount of guns is not a requirement. A decent amount is always better. Cross linking, no. So many users don't do it. I used to be bad about it. I still have a few pages that I've done that still need to be cross linked. What I do now when I work on a page, after writing the description and text of a gun. I immediately go to the actor and weapons page. The only bad thing about that is if the weapon turns out later to be misidentified, double work.

Being a popular page is also a good qualifier. http://www.imfdb.org/index.php/Special:PopularPages Pages like T2, Heat, and Saving Private Ryan etc would never be taken off the feature. Even pages with 40k to 60k views is popular I feel. Something I do to pages I put in the feature after they have been there a while is change the caps. Keeps it fresh. Sometimes take them off completely and replace them with a different page. Hope this helps. A page I've thought about adding to the feature is The Kingdom I think you worked on it. I think these caps would good. --Predator20 14:38, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

cont. again

The caps above could be switched too, Cooper with Garner or Foxx with the Saudi police officer, I try to pick caps with the guns pointing in different directions. Also I forgot video games, at one time we had Modern Warfare 2 and a Grand Theft Auto on the feature. Someone may have took them off. Something we never had on the feature is an Anime. Both are allowed I think, since they're no rules about the feature article. You could also ask User:Bunni it's his site. --Predator20 15:05, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Blank feature article

Is it on the main page itself? I've never seen it to that, unless the image coding was off. Also is it a certain film that does it?--Predator20 17:50, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I saw what you were talking about on the main page. I copied the whole feature article list and put it on the talk page without the random, two of the article were missing |} at the end. After it got to the first article missing those two symbols, it pushed all the rest of the articles to the right and misaligned some of the screencaps. So that may have been the problem. Another problem could be the size it's like 45k. I didn't think that would be a problem with the articles at random, but I'm not a wiki expert.--Predator20 21:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Re:Redirects or title change

Anybody can. For redirect, you start a new page with the spelling like you want, add #REDIRECT Current film or weapon title. To move it completely (which is what you need to do with Driven to Kill), click move that's beside the history action and change the spelling. --Predator20 19:25, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
