Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The following weapons were used in the video game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater:
AK-47
Most of the Enemies (both GRU and KGB) in the game use AK-47s. The AK-47 can also be picked up by Naked Snake, it has both a semi-auto and full auto option that can be selected in the weapon window. The AK uses 30 round banana box magazines firing 7.62x39mm rounds.
M1911A1
The M1911A1 is Naked Snake's signature weapon in the game, he uses a standard issue 1911 before it is dismantled by The Boss. After this, Snake recieves a heavily customized 1911 from EVA that has several professionally done modifications including a polished slide, tutone finish, perfectly meshed slide to frame, widened magazine well, raised mag release, a ring hammer, removed grip safety, 3 dot night sights, raised front sight, stepping on grip, cocking meshes added to front of slide, extended thumb safety, and accuracy capable of hitting a 1-hole at 25 yards from a machine rest. Snake comments that this is the best gun he has ever used. It can also be fitted with a suppressor. (The version of gun he was looking at was specially modified)
Ithaca M37
The shotgun used in the game is an Ithaca M37 with sawed off stock and barrel, it also holds four 12 gauge shells plus one in the chamber. It is also used by several members of the Ocelot Unit.
Stoner M63
The Stoner M63 is also used in the game. It holds 101 rounds of 5.56x45mm(.223) ammunition in the belt and Snake can be heard yelling while firing it. While this gun is an all pupose gun, able to be built into several different weapons systems, the game stuck with the LMG role.
Mk22 Mod 0 "Hush Puppy" (Smith & Wesson 39)
The Smith & Wesson Model 39 handgun appears in the game upgraded as the MK22 Hush Puppy tranquilizer gun, a non-lethal subsitute to the M1911A1. It can be fitted with a suppressor. The hush-puppy is in fact a real gun firing 9mm rounds(9mm tranquilizers in the game) but the slide has a single shot locking mechanism to reduce the sound heard when firing and even if heard, it sounds nothing like gunfire, supressed or not. It is called the "Hush puppy" because it is mainly used to kill guard dogs.
Mosin Nagant M91/30
The Mosin Nagant is The End's signature sniper Rifle. It has been modifed to fire tranquilzer darts, and can be obtained by the player if they beat The End non-lethally. It feattures a custom-fitted para-trooper folding stock probably stolen from an M1A1 Carbine rifle. It also feattures a 3.5X PU scope.
Patriot
The Boss' signature weapon is the Patriot, a customized XM16E1 with the power of an assault rifle and the size of a pistol. It can be earned by the player after beating the game on any difficulty, and it has infinite ammunition(This is explained because the 100 round "Beta-c" magazine is shaped like an infintity symbol). It is basically an XM16E1 with the barrel shortened and the stock removed, only featturing the housing rod holding the bolt spring. This is a gun not fit to the era, being a fictional invention of the soon to be developed OA-93 assualt pistol and the CAR-15.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 also makes an appearance in the game. It is obtained by the player and used several times by enemies.
Skorpion SA Vz 61
The Skorpion SA Vz 61 sub machine gun can be obtained by the player as well. It holds 30 rounds of .32 ACP ammunition, has a laser dot sight, and has a semi auto and a full auto option in the weapons window. It is also by several enemies. It uses a closed bolt retarded blow-back system(locks for a mili-second backwards before slamming back home) to reduce the immense rate of fire to a controllable 850 RPM.
Colt Single Action Army
Major Ocelot's signature weapons are two Colt Single Action Armys. The player also gains a Colt Single Action Army after being tortured by Colonel Volgin, and can earn one while starting a new game if the final dual with Ocelot is done correctly.
SVD Dragunov Sniper Rifle
Another sniper rifle in the game in the SVD Dragunov, it has two zoom options, and be seen being used by a member of the Ocelot Unit sometime in the beginning of the game.
XM16E1
The XM16E1 is the prototype of the first M16 assault rifle. It has three firing options: semi-auto, three round burst, and full-auto, and can also be fitted with a suppressor.
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM is the sidearm of every enemy in the game although it can never be obtained by the player. It is most notably used by Major Ocelot before being told by Naked Snake that his techiniques with the gun would be better suited for a revolver which causes him to switch to the Colt Single Action Army.
Shansi Type 17 (Mauser C96)
The Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" is EVA's signature weapon. She most notably uses it to shoot and kill several GRU soldiers sometime in the beginning of the game with a techinique known as a "Broomhandle Sweep". The version of the weapon EVA uses is a fully-automatic, .45 caliber Chinese copy made by the Shansi Factory in 1930s.
