The Battleship Island (Korean title: 군함도, Gunhamdo; lit. "Gunkanjima"/"Battleship Island") is a 2017 Korean action-drama war film directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. Set during the Second World War, the film follows the imprisonment and slavery of a group of over 400 Koreans by the Imperial Japanese on the manmade Battleship Island / Gunkanjima, an artificial island off the coast of modern-day Nagasaki Prefecture, and their escape from their Japanese captors.
