The Flammenwerfer 41 was modified version from the older Flammenwerfer 35, making it lighter (Flammenwerfer 35 weighed 35.8 kg, Flammenwerfer 41 - 22 kg). The oil stock was a 7 liters tank, hydrogen was used as the pressure medium. In the cold regions of the eastern front, however, these devices were very susceptible to interference, so that they were replaced by the improved Flammenwerfer mit Strahlpatrone 41. These 18 kg heavy devices also had a magazine with 10 ignition cartridges. Here too the flame oil reserve was 7 liters, the range was 30 m. It becames the standard flamethrower of the Wehrmacht, but it was also exported or handed over to civilian departments such as police and fire brigade.
