Mauser C96
The Mauser C96 was a German semi-automatic pistol, originally manufactured between 1896 to 1936. It was one of the first semi-automatic pistols in history to see widespread use and was built in Spain and China as well. There are four major variants (with the usual array of rare or specialty/custom sub-variants.)
- The C96 "Broomhandle" was the fullsized pistol - (7.63x25mm Mauser)
- The "Bolo" was the shorter barrel and smaller grip version (restrictions from the Versailles Treaty) and sold in large numbers to the Bolsheviks, thus the nickname "Bolo" - (7.63x25mm Mauser)
- The "Red 9" was a contract model for the Communist Russians, chambered in 9mm Parabellum
- The M712 "Schnellfeuer" had a detachable 20 rd box magazine and fired fully automatic. (During the 20th Century, some semi auto only versions of the M712 Schnellfeuer were built and sold to the civilian market as the M711)
- The "Shansi .45" was a Chinese manufactured Mauser alongside being the biggest as it is chambered in the .45ACP.
