Hart's War is a 2002 World War II film that is an adaptation of a novel written by John Katzenbach. The film stars Colin Farrell as 1st Lt. Thomas Hart, a US Army lieutenant who is captured by German forces and sent to a POW camp, where he finds himself serving as defense lawyer to a "Red Tail " fighter pilot (Terrence Howard ) who is accused of murdering a fellow American POW. Bruce Willis co-stars as Col. William McNamara, the POW Army Colonel who presides over the trial. The film also features early film roles for Sam Worthington and Linus Roache .

Colt M1911A1
German Commandos (Christian Kahrmann and Jim Boeven ), disguised as M.P.s (Military Police), carry Colt M1911A1 .45 caliber pistols as they take 1st Lt. Thomas Hart (Colin Farrell ) prisoner. Capt. Robert M. Swann (Rocky Marshall ) is briefly seen with a Colt in his holster at the beginning of the movie.

The personal sidearm of camp commandant Oberst Werner Visser (Marcel Iures ) is a Walther P38 pistol. When he sees the weapon disassembled on the commandant's desk, Col. William McNamara (Bruce Willis ) is seen assembling it and pointing it at Visser.
