The New Babylon (Russian Title: Новый Вавилон/Novyy Vavilon) is a 1929 silent film written and directed by Grigori Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg. The movies tells the story of the aftermath of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the crackdown on the Paris Commune. Also in the focus is the story of the Commune member Louise and the French soldier Jean.
The following weapons were used in the film The New Babylon:
Handguns
Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model
French officers are armed with Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Models. Maybe the Russian Model stands for the Lefaucheux M1858 or the Remington M1858 that are used by French forces during this time period.
Rifles
Chassepot 1866/74
Some French soldiers including Jean (Pyotr Sobolevsky) use Chassepot 1866/74 rifles. You can say it's the model of 1874 bacause the rifles are converted to metallic cartridges.
Mauser Gewehr 1898
The majority of French soldiers in the movie use anachronistic German Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifles. This rifles captured during the first World War from the German Empire.
Berdan No.2 Infantry rifle
It's also anachronistic that some characters use Russian Berdan No.2 Infantry rifles.
Kropatschek 1884
Parisian Commune members are seen also use Kropatschek 1884 rifles. This rifle was not developed until about 10 years later.
