Captain Phillips is a 2013 drama that recounts the events surrounding the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates in 2009. Tom Hanks stars in the film as Richard Phillips, the captain of the ship who allowed himself to be taken hostage by the hijackers. The film was directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy).
The following weapons were used in the film Captain Phillips:
Rifles
Norinco Type 56
The Norinco Type 56 is one of the rifles carried by the Somali pirates, notably Abduwali Muse (Barkhad Abdi). The rifles are seen in generally poor condition.
Norinco Type 56-1
The Norinco Type 56-1 is one of the rifles carried by the Somali pirates. The rifles are seen in very poor condition.
M4A1
Members of the USN VBSS team are armed with the M4A1 while confronting the lifeboat as well as when boarding the Alabama.
Knight's Armament SR-25
US Navy SEALs are seen taking aim with what appear to be suppressed SR-25 rifles with night vision adapters. These are designated as Mk 11 Mod 0 by the SEALs.
Heckler & Koch HK417

Machine Guns
M240 GPMG
An M240 machine gun is manned by US Navy personnel riding in the RHIBs (Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat).
DShK Heavy Machine Gun
A DShK heavy machine gun is seen mounted on a Somali "technical".
Browning M3 Heavy Machine Gun
A Browning M3 is seen mounted on the side of a Navy Seahawk helicopter as well as manned by Navy gunners aboard the USS Bainbridge.
Handguns
Colt M1911A1
An M1911A1 is notably used by Najee (Faysal Ahmed).
Makarov PM
