Weapons
Are you 100% sure those are Reising guns? Is it possible it's a Beretta Model 38 with a Cutts Compensator?
- These guns were IDed as Reisings about 2 years ago, and I've believed in this statement. Maybe it's an error, I'm not completly sure. But they are not Beretta 38/44: the space between the magazine and the end of the stock is enough to put a hand while the stock of Beretta 38/44 doesn't protrude before the magazine. I guess that they are more like Beretta Model 38s with removed barrel shroud. What do you think about such version? Greg-Z (talk) 08:03, 30 September 2013 (EDT)
- Thanks Mr Z. I'm no expert but those do not look like Reisings. Possibly the version you say, hopefully someone can pick it out. As producer Saul David's previous film was Von Ryan's Express was shot in Italy maybe someone brought a couple back?Foofbun (talk) 17:18, 30 September 2013 (EDT)
In 1971 I visited 20th Century Fox's (they made the film)gunvault. There were several dummy Beretta 38s,without the Cuuts compensator, on the wall; perhaps these were from the movie. 21:18, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
Here's a studio photo of a weapon Rodney Edward Mulhare uses.Foofbun (talk) 05:17, 30 September 2013 (EDT)
- Thank you! Rodney's pistol is seen very unclear, and I identified it as a P38, judging only by its general shape. The promotion still really shows the weapon. Greg-Z (talk) 08:03, 30 September 2013 (EDT)
- Exactly. I've seen the film countless times since its first release on the big screen and that's the clearest image I've ever seen of it. Foofbun (talk) 17:18, 30 September 2013 (EDT)

What type of pistol fires during the coloured title sequence?Foofbun (talk) 18:47, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
- I have no guess what it can be. Maybe it's not a real weapon but a drawing of a "generic pistol". Greg-Z (talk) 12:03, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
