Revision as of 10:21, 22 February 2013
The following weapons can be seen in Season 4 of the series Southland:
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
Several LAPD officers and detectives carry the Beretta 92FS as their sidearm, including Officer Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy), Officer Bill "Dewey" Dudek (C. Thomas Howell), and Officer Ferguson (Lou Diamond Phillips). This weapon is on the LAPD approved carry list.
Glock 22
Many officers in the series the .40 caliber Glock 22 (which is the standard-issue handgun for the LAPD) as their sidearm. Officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) continues to carry the Glock 22 as his sidearm from the last 3 seasons. Newly-introduced, Officer Jessica Tang (Lucy Liu) mentions that she carries the "Glock .40" as her sidearm and draws it in "Wednesday" (S4E01). Det. Lydia Adams (Regina King) carries a Glock 22 in lieu of her Smith & Wesson 3913 when she is placed on patrol as a Sgt. in the episode "Integrity Check". This is presumably because LAPD officers are not authorized to carry the Smith & Wesson Model 3913, so Adams was forced to carry the department-issue Glock.
Colt M1911A1
A Colt M1911A1 is fired by a robbery suspect during a shootout in a car wash in "Thursday" (S4E10).
Browning Hi-Power
In a continuity error, a robbery suspect's M1911A1 appears to change into a Browning Hi-Power during a shootout in a car wash in "Thursday" (S4E10).
Heckler & Koch USP (Stainless Slide)
A pimp named Ronnie (Cle Shaheed Sloan) is seen firing on Sherman and Bryant with a Heckler & Koch USP, equipped with a stainless slide in "Risk" (S4E09).
Smith & Wesson 5906
Officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) continues to carry the Smith & Wesson 5906 (as evidenced by its double stack frame) as his duty sidearm. This weapon is on the LAPD approved carry list. When Tang asks him what he carries as a service weapon, he replies "Smith nine", referring to the make and the caliber, 9mm. An early model 5906 (with the hooked trigger guard) is seen in the hands of one of the men confronted by Sherman during a chase in "Wednesday" (S4E01).
Smith & Wesson 3913
Detective Lydia Adams (Regina King) continues to carry a Smith & Wesson 3913 as her on-duty sidearm. She is seen drawing it in "Risk" (S4E09). In "Wednesday" (S4E01), Officer Ben Sherman appears to carry a Smith & Wesson 3913 as his off duty weapon. He can be seen taking it out of his locker stowed in an IWB thumb break holster. He then fires it later in the episode when a shooter enters the LAPD station with a shotgun and opens fire. Sherman is seen cleaning this pistol in "Thursday" (S4E10).
Smith & Wesson Model 10 (Nickel)
A Smith & Wesson Model 10 nickel with pearl grips is pulled by the elderly woman in "Underwater" (S4E02).
Smith & Wesson Model 36
In "Wednesday" (S4E01), one of the men that Sherman encounters in a backyard during a chase appears to have a Smith & Wesson Model 36 revolver in his back waistband. A similar revolver is found by Det. Ruben Robinson (Dorian Missick) buried in a backyard.
Compact Pistol
A stainless compact pistol is seen next to a slain gang member in "Wednesday" (S4E01). A woman opens fire with a compact pistol in "Fallout" (S4E08).
Shotguns
Remington 870 Police Riot Magnum
The Remington 870 Police Riot Magnum is the standard shotgun used by the LAPD in the series. Officers are often seen carrying the shotgun (along with one carrying beanbag rounds) to their squad cars. In Season 4's premiere "Wednesday" (S4E01) Officer Ben Sherman is seen carrying the standard and Officer Sammy Bryant is seen with the "less-lethal" model loaded with beanbag rounds. In "Underwater" (S4E02), Captain Joel Rucker (Carl Lumbly) uses the Remington 870 to fire the less lethal beanbag round.
Remington 870 Field Shotgun
In Season 4's premiere "Wednesday" (S4E01), an active shooter is seen entering the station armed with a Remington 870 Wingmaster shotgun fitted with an extended mag tube.
Mossberg 500
A robbery suspect opens fire at Tang and Cooper with appears to be a Mossberg 500 in "Thursday" (S4E10).
Rifles
M1 Carbine
An M1 Carbine is held by an elderly woman in "Underwater" (S4E02).
M4A1 Carbine
An LAPD officer armed with an M4A1 Carbine fitted with an EOTech sight is seen entering after the shootout in the police station in Season 4's premiere "Wednesday" (S4E01).
Other
Toy Guns
Toy replica guns are seen having a significant role in two instances in Season 4. In "Integrity Check" (S4E06), Det. Lydia Adams is seen entering a home where a troublesome child points what appears to be a toy replica of a Beretta 92FS at her. She sees the orange cap on the barrel and tells him, "You're lucky I have good eyesight." In "Fallout" (S4E07), Ofc. Jessica Tang is involved in a shooting of a young man who was holding a toy replica gun that resembles a SIG-Sauer. Tang says that the orange cap had been removed from the replica.
