Well, the internal suppressor on the Mp5SD is designed to make the gun a little quieter, all the while making the sound of the gunshot sound nothing like a shot. I'd say that this is one of the best portrayals of a silencer, because the shots are still kinda sorta loud, but a bit quieter and sharper thud-ish sound. | Well, the internal suppressor on the Mp5SD is designed to make the gun a little quieter, all the while making the sound of the gunshot sound nothing like a shot. Glock 17
Detective Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) carries 2nd and 3rd Generation Glock 17s akimbo style as his standard weapons, both with chrome slides. Syd (Gabrielle Union) later takes one of these pistols during the mission to rescue her in Cuba to defend herself as they're making their escape, and uses it to set off a land mine at Guantanamo Bay, killing one of Tapia's cronies. Burnett (Martin Lawrence) then uses another Glock 17 to dispatch Tapia with a headshot, although it truly appears out of nowhere. Police Officers are seen using standard models during the shootout with the Haitians.
SIG-Sauer P226
Detective Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) carries a SIG-Sauer P226 pistol as his standard sidearm. Like Lowrey's Glocks, Burnett's pistol is also black with a silver slide. One of Tapia's cronies can also be seen wielding an all-black P226 during the standoff at Guantanamo Bay near the end of the film.
Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 629
During the raid on the KKK rally, one of the members not wearing robes and with tattoos all over his arms manages to catch Burnett off-guard and holds a Smith & Wesson Performance Center model 629 revolver to his head, taunting him and Lowrey until he's finally killed with a head shot from one of Lowrey's Glocks. The indentations in the barrel clearly prove it is a S&W over a Taurus Raging Bull, and in well-lighted shots 'Smith and Wesson' can be read on the side of the barrel.
Heckler & Koch SL9
During the shootout at the KKK rally, one of the TNT members can be seen using a Heckler & Koch SL9 sniper rifle fitted with a night vision scope and tactical flashlight, using it to take out a KKK member attempting to shoot Lowrey from behind. The same TNT member uses this rifle also when assaulting Tapia's house in Cuba. The SL9 appears to be the grey Match model, not the Black Tactical Model. These guns are the SL9 rather than the SL8 as the SL9 is the military version, the SL8 is the civilian version with a built in 3x scope in the carry handle.
- Uh WRONG. the real world SL8 does not come with the 3x scope in a carry handle. Only the AIRSOFT version comes like that. Amongst live firearms, the SL9SD is the threaded barrel version of the SL8 to take a Suppressor and a upgraded Sniper trigger. The SL8 pics are REAL guns and the weapons used in this movie are SL8s. The SL9 in the U.S. was unofficially used to describe the SL8s that were modified with a custom black exterior, upgraded magazine well and bolt face, but this was not an official term used by Heckler & Koch. The term SL9 is used ALOT by Airsoft companies to describe their Tactical Black SL8 Rifle clones, but that's incorrect. MoviePropMaster2008 08:10, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Glock 36
At the beginning of and during the freeway chase scene, Syd can be seen using a Glock 36 pistol to defend herself from the Haitian gang members.
AKM
Numerous AKM's appear in the film, being weilded by Cuban Army soldiers responding to the attack on Tapia's mansion. Tito Vargas (Reynaldo A. Gallegos) can be seen wielding an AKM too, using it to help the protagonists escape Tapia's mansion during "plan B".
This one above is another Type 56. Note that the front sight is the older-style AK-47 type, plus the gun has a stamped receiver and the grips have no rails. All indicative of a Type 56.
AKMSU
Several of the Haitian gang members can be seen brandishing AKMSU carbines during the freeway chase scene, and again when Burnett and Lowrey raid their hideout.
One AKMSU is seen during the shootout at Tapia's Cuban house, which cleary has a 7.62x39 magazine, but feattures an AKS-74U style folding stock.
FN FAL
Another weapon used by the Haitian gang members is an FN FAL carbine, seen during the intersection shootout and freeway chase scenes by Blond Dreads (Kiko Ellsworth). The FAL used is an American Variant made by DSArms in Lake Barrington, IL, called the SA58. Like the FN FAL, The SA58 comes in many shapes and sizes and can easily be modified with different stocks, sights, etc., but in this particular scene it is a "Tactical Carbine OSW", which is a select-fire, short carbine (12" barrel with carbine handguard) with a para-style side-folding stock and a 7.62x51mm 30-round FAL magazine. Like the Law Enforcement/Military-only version of the SA58 OSW, the one used in the movie is select-fire.
M16A2
During the shootout between the Haitian gang members and the police in the intersection, several officers are seen engaging the Haitians with M16A2 rifles retrieved from the trunks of their patrol cars. They are also seen being used by U.S. Marines responding to the standoff situation at the perimeter of the Guantanamo Bay naval base.
H&K UMP45
During the freeway chase scene, Mike Lowrey takes out an H&K UMP45 from the back seat of his Ferrari, deploying the weapon at the beginning of the break/gunfight in the chase at the intersection. During this gunfight, Marcus Burnett gets another UMP and uses it during this shootout, as well as the continuation of the chase as it spills onto the MacArthur Causeway Bridge. It's here that Burnett, while offering up suppressive fire, riddles the dashboard of Lowrey's Ferrari with a burst. It is noted as the UMP45, the .45 ACP varient based on its slower rate of fire than the .40 and 9mm varients.
Serbu Super Shorty 9
During the shootout between the Haitian gang members and the police in the intersection, one of the gang members shoots out the rear window of Syd's SUV, to which she responds by drawing a Serbu Super Shorty shotgun fitted with a vertical foregrip and gives the luckless Haitian a point-blank blast.
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
When Lowrey and Burnett are getting chewed out in Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano)'s office following the freeway chase, a Mk 2 hand grenade can be seen sitting on his desk. Though it looks like a Mk II, it is actually an oversized Pewter Hand grenade "cigarette Lighter" modeled after the MK II.
Colt Anaconda
When Roberto is telling Tapia about the freeway chase, Tapia can be seen using a Colt Anaconda to shoot rats infesting his Miami home.
Micro Uzi
During the shootout with Tapia's cronies during the coroner truck chase, one of Tapia's cronies can be seen letting loose with a Micro Uzi.
Intratec TEC-9
During the shootout with Tapia's cronies during the coroner truck chase, one of Tapia's cronies can be seen letting loose with an Intratec TEC-9.
H&K MP5K
During the shootout with Tapia's cronies during the coroner truck chase, one of Tapia's cronies can be seen letting loose with an H&K MP5K, though is clearly not experienced with the weapon, holding it by the magazine instead of the foregrip.
Type 69 RPG Launcher
During the rescue mission in Cuba, the Cuban Army arrives to complicate matters, including at least one Type 69 RPG team. It differs from the Russian RPG-7, most notably that the soldier firing it has to grab one handle above the launcher and one below - indicative of the Type 69 (the Chinese copy of the RPG-7).
M2 .50 cal (Mocked up as DShK)
Among the weapons used by the Cuban Army soldiers that arrive at the mansion during the rescue mission are several Browning M2 .50 caliber machine guns mocked up as DShK heavy machine guns mounted on the back of a truck.
SIG-Sauer P232
The main villain of the film, Johnny Tapia (Jordi Mollà) keeps a silver SIG-Sauer P232 in his bedroom in his Miami home. We first see the weapon when a pair of prostitutes are goofing off with it and accidentally fire it and shatter a vase, much to Tapia's annoyance. He is also seen killing Roberto (Jon Seda) with it, and using it during the raid on his Miami home which leads to Syd being taken hostage.
Beretta 92FS Inox
A Beretta 92FS Inox pistols make several appearances in the film. Curiously, they appear in the hands of different users at different points throughout the film; first in the hands of Haitian gang members when Lowrey and Burnett raid their hideout, then again by one of Tapia's cronies with one when fighting with Lowrey onboard the monorail train following the coroner truck chase. The one used by the gangster on the train is a "Non Gun" Beretta Inox replica.
Taurus PT92
Dual Taurus PT92s are seen being brandished akimbo-style by a drunk Alexei (Peter Stormare) when he comes to Tapia's Miami home looking for revenge. They are not Beretta Inoxes, as they feature frame-mounted safeties instead of Beretta-style slide-mounted safeties.
Smith & Wesson Model 39
Alexei is also seen with dual Smith & Wesson Model 39 pistols, kept in cross draw shoulder holsters. They appear to have stainless slides.
H&K G36C
During the rescue mission in Cuba, Burnett can be seen using an H&K G36C fitted with an M68 Aimpoint red dot scope as his main weapon during the mission. A DEA agent can also be seen using one briefly during the freeway chase scene.
H&K MP5SD
Mike Lowrey and a DEA agent that joins the protagonists are seen using H&K MP5SD's during the Cuban rescue mission. They are fitted with an M68 Aimpoint red dot sight and a tactical flashlight under the barrel. Several members of the Miami P.D. SWAT team that storms the Spanish Palms Mortuary can also be seen armed with similarly-equipped MP5SD's, albeit without the red-dot sights. An amusing goof in the film is that someone apparently forgot to tell the sound effects person that the MP5SD is supposed to be quiet, not blasting away as loud as other weapons in the film.
H&K MP5A2
During the raid on the Spanish Palms Mortuary, Miami PD SWAT team members can be seen toting H&K MP5A2's fitted with tactical flashlights mounted in the foregrip under the barrel.
Steyr SPP
During the rescue mission in Cuba and the final standoff of the film, Tapia can be seen brandishing a Steyr SPP, a variant of the Steyr TMP machine pistol with the foregrip removed. Another goof is that this weapon is supposed to be semi-auto only, but Tapia can be clearly seen letting loose full auto bursts from the weapon. In some countries, other than the U.S., it is easier to convert commercially available Semi-Auto weapons into full auto guns (with the proper paperwork). Since it is difficult to build full auto guns in the US after 1986, most full auto versions of domestic and international weapons are either police samples or military contracts. In the context of this movie, however, since the character is a drug dealer, one can assume he acquired an illegally converted pistol from the black market.
Valmet M76 w/ folding stock
Seen in the hands of some of the Haitains during the street shoot out are Valmet M76 rifles with side folding stocks..
Double-Barreled Shotgun
During the rescue mission in Cuba, Tapia's mother Donna Maria Tapia (Gloria Irizarry) attacks the rescuers with a double-barreled shotgun of unknown make and model though is knocked out by one of the rescuers when she runs out of ammunition. When she raises it, it makes a pump-action cocking sound.
M240 Machine Gun
In the scene where drug runners in a 'go-fast' speedboat are being pursued by Miami P.D. and U.S. Coast Guard helicopters, the MH-68A Stingray helicopters are armed with door-mounted M240 machine guns, which are ultimately used to end the chase by shooting up the boat's engine.
CAR-15
There are two appearances of a CAR-15 carbine in the film, both in the hands of drug runners in a 'go fast' speedboat. It is not a Colt Commando, but a third party manufacturer of a CAR-15 look-a-like. The barrel is a full length 11.5"" with a fake 5.5" XM177 style flash hider welded on the end. The flash hider on these CAR-15 clones are the same diameter as the A1 "birdcage" flash hider, so that the M7 bayonet can still slip over the front and lock into the bayonet lug. The real CAR-15, XM177 series of carbines have flash hiders/sound suppressors that are too large for the bayonet ring.
M4A1 carbine
The M4A1 carbine makes several appearances as well; first in the hands of TNT members waiting for the signal to move in on the Klu Klux Klan members at the start of the film, then among the weapons used by the rescue team during the mission in Cuba. As is the norm with M4's in movies, they're tricked out with varying accessories, including M68 Aimpoint red dot sights, Surefire M500AB forend weaponlights, and laser pointers.
Remington 870
A silver Remington 870 shotgun with black foregrip and stock and a high-capacity magazine tube makes two appearances in the film. The distinct silver finish is specific to the "Marine Magnum" special edition of Remington 870 shotguns. Like the Beretta Inox pistols mentioned above, this distinctive weapon also changes owners during the course of the film; first used by a KKK member intent on shooting Burnett from behind (leading to the incident where Burnett gets shot in the rear by Lowrey by accident), then by the police during the Haitian shootout, theirs sporting a blued finish.
Ithaca 37 w/ pistol grip
Some of the Haitian gang members are seen using Ithaca 37 shotguns fitted with thier distinctive pistol grips, but they are not long enough to be "Stakeout" models. They are not Reminton 870s, as they have no ejection port and a different style trigger guard. A goof in this scene is that the same Haitian is seen weilding the shotgun inside the trans am that Marcus shoots and crashes into the back of another car yet he is still present during the intersection shootout.
Unknown Rocket Launcher
At the onset of the rescue mission, one member of the team pops up from a tunnel dug beneath Tapia's Cuban mansion and uses an unknown missile launcher to destroy the security shed. It is not an AT4, it looks nothing like one.
- A Javelin is too thick and short, this launcher is long and slim.
- that looks a little like a Mk. 153 SMAW, but without optical sight and the spotting rifle
- Close but not quite.
(It actually appears to be the M141 SMAW-D, a disposable version)
- Nope the M141 SMAW has a shoulder mount and a pistol grip from what I recall.
- The launcher has a yellow ring around it, which means it is a HULA grenade. A HULA grenade does not make that kind of explosion, and is not even likely to explode when it hits a thin building like that one.
M249 SAW
Another weapon used during the Cuban rescue mission is a 'paratrooper' version of the M249 SAW, fitted with a telescoping stock and shorter barrel.
