Revision as of 16:48, 30 August 2011
JAG was a military legal drama series that was broadcast on NBC in 1995 for its first season and then was picked up by CBS, where it ran for 9 more seasons. The show primarily dealt with US Navy and Marine lawyers in the Judge Advocate General Corps investigating and prosecuting cases involving military law. It starred David James Elliott as Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr., a naval aviator, who after being diagnosed with night blindness, became a lawyer in the JAG Corps. The executive producer of the show was Donald Bellisario, who created such popular action shows of the 1980s as Magnum, P.I. and Airwolf. In 2003, JAG introduced characters who later would appear in the spinoff show NCIS.
The following weapons were used in the television series JAG:
Handguns
Beretta 92FS
The Beretta 92FS (standing in the M9) is the standard issue sidearm for the US military and is used by Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb, Jr. (David James Elliott), Lieutenant (junior grade) Meg Austin (Tracey Needham), Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" Mackenzie (Catherine Bell) and Rear Admiral A.J. Chegwidden (John M. Jackson), Lieutenant Gregory Vukovic (Chris Beetem) as well as other military personnel.
Beretta 950 Jetfire
An engraved nickel Beretta 950 Jetfire is seen given to RADM Chegwidden by his ex-wife Marcella (Barbara Carrera) in the Season 4's "Going After Francesca". It is later used by the admiral's daughter Francesca (Guiliana Santini) in the same episode.
Colt M1911A1
A Colt M1911A1 is seen taken out from a case by RADM A.J. Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) in Season 2's "Ghosts". Also seen used by Lieutenant Boone in a Vietnam flashback in Season 4's "A Separate Peace".
Browning Hi-Power
The Browning Hi-Power is used by British Forces in Season 2's "Trinity". Another one is used in season 1 episode "Scimitar" by Iraq officer.
Heckler & Koch USP
A Heckler & Koch USP is carried by Captain Gayle Osbourne (Leon Russom) in Season 2's "Secrets".
Glock 17
Harm is seen firing a Glock 17 during the Season 4 episode "Embassy". The Glock 17 is also carried by Webb in Season 8's "A Tangled Webb, Part 1".
Grendel P-10
A Grendel P-10 fitted with a suppressor is used by the assassin codenamed "Hemlock" in Season 1's "Hemlock".
Makarov PM
The Makarov PM is used by several characters in the series.
SIG-Sauer P228
NCIS Special Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Vivian Blackadder (Robyn Lively) all carry the SIG-Sauer P228 as their sidearm in Season 8's "Ice Queen" and "Meltdown".
SIG-Sauer P230
Sarah is seen pulling a SIG-Sauer P230 from a shelf in her apartment in Season 9's "Persian Gulf".
Smith & Wesson 5906
A Smith & Wesson 5906 was the sidearm used by the local sheriff's deputies in Season 1's "Survivors". Former Marine corporal Jason Magida (Victor Love) holds a 5906 on RADM Chegwidden in Season 2's "Secrets".
Smith & Wesson 4006
A Smith & Wesson 4006 is used by the Italian mobster Luscino in Season 4's "Going After Francesca".
Smith & Wesson 4506
Former Marine corporal Jason Magida (Victor Love) holds a Smith & Wesson 4506 on RADM Chegwidden in Season 2's "Secrets".
Ruger KP90
An assassin opens fire on Rabb's apartment with a stainless and suppressed Ruger KP90 in Season 1's "Deja Vu". Former Navy SEAL Paul Bauwer (Bruce Weitz) holds a Ruger that he took off a robbery suspect in Season 2's "The Guardian".
Walther PPK
The Walther PPK is used throughout the series, notably by CIA agent Clayton Webb (Steven Culp).
Walther PPK/S
An ambassador of Thailand (Michael Paul Chan) is seen with a Walther PPK/S in Season 1's "Deja Vu".
Shotguns
Remington 870 Shotgun
A Remington 870 Shotgun with a sawed barrel and stock is found and used by Rabb in Season 1's "Sightings".
Remington 870
In Season 2's "A Game of Go", Rabb takes a Remington 870 (which appears to be in the USMC configuration) from a cartel guard and holds it on the drug lord.
Mossberg 590
Chegwidden and Harm fire Mossberg 590 shotguns in the Season 4 episode "Going After Francesca".
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5N
The Heckler & Koch MP5N (with the Navy trigger group) is used by SEALs, Marines, and other various tactical units in various episodes in the series, often fitted a Surefire tactical weaponlight.
Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW
The Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW is seen used frequently over the series, most notably by Rabb to rescue Lieutenant Painter in the Season 1 episode "Defensive Action" and to prove his point by shooting a courtroom ceiling in the Season 2 episode "Heroes". These are MP5K-PDWs due to their 3 lug barrels and folded stock.
MAC-11
Rabb and several bodyguards were armed with MAC-11s in Season 1's "War Cries".
SA Vz.61 Skorpion
The SA Vz.61 Skorpion is seen being used by Russian Secret Service in Season 1's "Hemlock", and by members of The Shining Path in Season 1's "War Cries".
Sterling SMG
Sterling SMG's are used by British Forces in Season 2's "Trinity".
Assault Rifles
XM177E2 'Colt Commando'
A militia leader is seen carrying a XM177E2-style carbine when engaging Marines in Season 1's "Brig Break". Another XM177 with a M203 grenade launcher is seen carried by a Navy SEAL in Season 1's "Black Ops".
M4A1 Carbine
The M4 Carbine is seen being used by Marines notably in Season 9's "The Boast" and Season 10's "Death at the Mosque", with and without various attachments.
MGC Replica M16 rifle
A number of characters were seen carrying MGC M16 Replica rifles for scenes where they didn't carry the blank-firing M16 rifles.
M16A1
M16A1's are frequently seen in the flashbacks to Vietnam, such as in the episode "Survivors".
M16A1 (with A2 handguards)
Various styles of the M16 rifle series appeared in JAG during the show's long run. M16A1s with A2 hand guards were frequently used to simulate M16A2s. These guns make sense in JAG, because the military does use a lot of "Frankenstein" M16s. The Air Force being the worst offender, but they can be found in service with all branches.
Can also be seen in several episodes of Season 7 including "Code of Conduct" (being used by Navy SEALs), "Tribunal" (incorrectly shown being used by US Army Special Forces), and "In Country" (seen being carried by Harm, Mac, and Gunnery Sergeant Galindez (Randy Vasquez).
AK Variants
Kalashnikov and Norinco Rifles have been seen during the show's ten seasons. In the episodes set in Russia, Chechnya, Cuba, Iraq, China, etc, as well as flashbacks to the Korean War, Vietnam, and the Cold War, many varieties of Kalashnikov rifles have been seen, as well as the Chinese manufactured Norinco rifles. Unlike most movies and television shows JAG was usually pretty accurate about having the right rifle type for the locations.
FN FAL
The FN FAL is used by British Forces in Season 2's "Trinity".
Sniper Rifles
Remington 700PSS
