Colt Official Police
Ira Wells (Art Carney) owns ,and uses, a Colt Official Police. Which is appropriate considering that he is supposed to have been a private investigator since 1946. At one point Lamar (John Considine) takes it , by force, from Ira. Ira gets it back.
Colt Trooper
Laura Birdwell (Joanna Cassidy) uses a long barreled Colt Trooper.
Smith & Wesson Model 39
Lamar (John Considine) primary sidearm of choice is the Smith & Wesson Model 39 with suppressor . Later it is also used by Charlie Hatter (Bill Macey). In the script it is referred to as a "45".
Walther PP
Jeff Lamar (John Considine) also uses what appears to be a Walther PP with suppressor. As payback Ira (Art Carney) takes it from Lamar and uses it against him.
Colt Model 1903 Hammerless
A nickel plated Colt Model 1903 with pearl grips plays a pivotal role in the plot. It is also used by Ron Birdwell (Eugene Roche). At one point in the movie it is identified as a "32 auto".
