The Hunted is a 2003 action thriller directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection) and stars Benicio del Toro as Aaron Hallam, a covert operative who finds himself on the run from the CIA and must be brought in by his former mentor L.T. Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones). While there are numerous firearms featured in the film, the realistic depiction of knife fighting also is noteworthy. The movie finished primary filming in the first half of 2001, however the events of 9/11 delayed the release of many 'military' or 'terrorism' themed motion pictures until the public sentiment was deemed ready. The film was scheduled for release in 2002 but its release date was pushed out to March 2003.
The following weapons can be seen in the film The Hunted:
The Glock 17 3rd Generation is the sidearm carried by several FBI agents including FBI Special Agent Abby Durrell (Connie Nielsen).
Heckler & Koch USP Pistol
Hewitt (Mark Pellegrino) uses his Heckler & Koch USP Pistol (9x19mm) when transporting Aaron Hallam (Benicio del Toro), however he loses the pistol when Hallam forces a van crash.
What appears to be standard AK-47s or Type 56 rifles are also used. They are identified by their wider front sight, flat sided front foregrip and downward slope of their buttstocks - 7.62x39mm
RPD Light Machine Gun
One of the Serbian Soldiers is seen using an RPD Light Machine Gun - 7.62x39mm
AKMSU
Serbian soldiers use AKMSU short assault rifles to massacre Albanian villagers during the Kosovo Battle. They should be using Crvena Zastava M92s which is the Yugo AKMSU, however, these appear to be armorer build ups using Krinkov parts. The movie weapons would be identical to AK74U Krinkovs if it weren't for the 7.62x39mm magazines.
Yugo SKS
M4A1 w/ M203 Grenade Launcher
An M4A1 with M203 Grenade launcher (old style) is used by Covert Operative Hewitt (Mark Pellegrino) on a mission with Aaron Hallam (Benicio Del Toro) in Kosovo - 5.56x45mm/40mm.
M4 Carbine
The M4A1 carbine is used by FBI HRT/SWAT teams in Portland Oregon. They have the standard fore ends with no rails or vertical grips.
DSA SA58 OSW
One of the commandos during the Kosovo raid uses a DSA SA58 OSW.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The Heckler & Koch MP5A3 is used by FBI HRT/SWAT teams in Portland Oregon. They have the Surefire light fore ends.
Assassin Powell (Rex Linn) impersonating a deer hunter uses a Remington 700 BDL (chambered for 30.06) with iron sights and a 'high tech' scope, that appears to be a Night Vision or Thermal Imaging scope, but the view through the reticle appears like any other magnification scope.
Sako Hunter with Custom Scope
Assassin Richards (Eddie Velez) impersonating a deer hunter uses a Sako Hunter with a 'high tech' scope, that appears to be a Night Vision or Thermal Imaging scope, but the view through the reticle appears like any other magnification scope.
M40 Sniper Rifle
What appears to be M40 Sniper Rifle is used by Portland SWAT to snipe at Hallam on the bridge.
