Southland (2009)

The following weapons can be seen in the series Southland:

Handguns

Beretta 92FS

Several LAPD officers and detectives carry the Beretta 92FS as their sidearm, including Detective Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy), Detective Daniel "Sal" Salinger (Michael McGrady), Detective Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro), Officer Billy Dewey (C. Thomas Howell), Detective Russell Clarke (Tom Everett Scott), and a number of other officers. This weapon is on the LAPD approved carry list. Also, used by at least one of the LASD (Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department) deputies in episode 4. This weapon is also on the Sheriff's Department approved carry list.

Smith & Wesson 4566

Officer John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) and Detective Lydia Adams (Regina King) both use a Smith & Wesson automatic, likely a Smith & Wesson 4566, as their sidearm. This weapon is on the LAPD approved carry list. Cooper's gun is equipped with adjustable sights, while Adams' gun has Novack sights.

Glock 22

Officer Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) uses a Glock 22 as his sidearm. This weapon is standard issue to all LAPD probationary officers. Upon completion of probation, they may choose to switch to another weapon on the approved carry list, or they can stay with the Glock. Officer Chickie Brown (Arija Bareikis) also uses a Glock 22 as her sidearm, although her weapon is fitted with a Surefire X-300 tactical light.

Ray Suarez packs a Glock, although his looks like it might be a 19/23.

Heckler & Koch USP

A Hispanic gang member uses a two tone Heckler & Koch USP to shoot a non-gang affiliated black kid. One of the LASD deputies in episode 4 also had a USP. It would be the .45 ACP version, as that is the only USP on the Sheriff's Department approved carry list.

Smith & Wesson Model 60

Another Hispanic gang member uses a Smith & Wesson Model 60 to shoot the same black kid in episode 1. The same gang member uses it to shoot Dewey later on in the episode. During season 2 episode 3 "U-Boat" Chickie and John arrest a man n the street for possession of a concealed handgun. The S&W Model 60 is one of the handguns Chickie confiscates from the suspect.

Smith & Wesson 4516

Detective Adams uses a Smith & Wesson 4516 as her off duty gun. She gives it to the witness she is protecting in episode 7. You can tell this is not her S&W 4566 that she carries on duty because the slide on her off duty gun is smaller than that on her duty gun.

  • Both Detective Adams weapons are Smith And Wesson 3913's. The slide and frame of the 3913 and 4516 are noticeably different dimensions and Detective Adams 3913 is clearly shown in Episode seven. Also the Novak sights on the 3913 have a lower angle than the 4516s, also clearly seen in the gun's profile in episode seven.
  • Good shot of it in the first episode, when she takes it back from the perp that took it. Sure its a smaller model.

Walther PPK

Used by the hooker in episode 3. She is seen pulling it on actor Timmy Davis (Tom Sizemore) in Season 1's "See the Woman" (S1E03).

Glock 26

Chickie misses what apperas to be a Glock 26, on a street thug. Cooper finds it during a patdown, in an ankle holster. I also think the gun Sammy confiscates in episode 11 was one.

Unidentified revolver

Used by the grieving father in episode 11.

Shotguns

Remington 870

Several LAPD officers are seen using Remington 870 shotguns, once seen equipped with tactical lights in episode 1. They are often seen in the shotgun racks of the police cars. This is the standard shotgun for all LAPD personnel. Detective Clarke notably uses one loaded with beanbag ammo in episode 2.

Winchester Model 1300 "Defender"

Detective Adams keeps a Winchester Model 1300 "Defender" in a safe in her home. She uses it to shoot the gang members trying to kill a witness in her home in Season 1's "Derailed" (S01E07). It is identified as a Winchester by the magazine cap.

Benelli M1 Super 90

At least one Swat officer had one of these in episode 12. It had a weponlight forrend, and I think spare shell holders.

Assault Rifles

M4 Carbine

LAPD SWAT members are armed with M4 Carbines during the raid on a gang member's arms dealing warehouse in Season 1's "Two Gangs" (S01E05). They are equipped with SureFire tactical lights and ACOG scopes.
