The Taurus Model 85 is a snub nose 5 shot revolver chambered for .38 special. It came in full hammer Blued but also was available in Stainless Steel. The bobbed hammer, humped backed "concealed carry" version is the Taurus Model 851 which owes it's design lineage to the Smith & Wesson Model 38/49 Bodyguard series of revolvers. Both the Model 85 and the 851 come in different style variations as well as finishes.
The Taurus Model 85 can be seen in the following:
Film
- Will Smith as Detective Spooner in I, Robot (fitted in a custom exterior shell with Walther P99 grips to look like a futuristic pistol)
- Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila Yuen and various Hong Kong CID inspectors in Hard Boiled
- Joe Sarno's enforcers in The Way of the Gun
- Robbie Gee as Vinny and Ade as Tyrone in Snatch (stainless model)
Television
- Firefly - Malcolm Reynold's primary firearm is a heavily modified Taurus Model 85.
