Big Fish is a 2003 fantasy film directed by Tim Burton and starring Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup and Jessica Lange, with Marion Cotillard, Steve Buscemi, Helena Bonham Carter, and Danny DeVito. The film the first American film for Marion Cotillard as well as the feature film debut of Miley Cyrus, who played a small role and was still known by her birth name "Destiny Cyrus." The film was based on Daniel Wallace's 1998 novel Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions. Longtime Burton collaborator Danny Elfman was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Grammy for his score, but ultimately did not win either. A musical adaptation of the novel and film opened on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theater in October of 2013 and ran for three months.
