'''''F Troop''''' is a satirical comedy set in the American West and involving the personnel of F Troop, stationed at the fictional Fort Courage; the Hekawi, a peaceful tribe of Native Americans residing in a nearby village; and occassionally the Shug, an antagonistic tribe of Native Americans. Slapstick comedy is on display in most episodes, with the principal cast performing many of their own stunts. The show is set some time near or after the end of the American Civil War. Great liberties with the timeline are taken by the show's writers; in one episode, Abraham Lincoln is still the President (1865), while in another episode, General Custer has recently lost the Battle of the Little Bighorn (1876). Regardless, many of the firearms used in the show are anachronistic. F Troop is a satirical comedy set in the American West and involving the personnel of F Troop, stationed at the fictional Fort Courage; the Hekawi, a peaceful tribe of Native Americans residing in a nearby village; and occassionally the Shug, an antagonistic tribe of Native Americans.
The following weapons were used in Season 1 of the television series F Troop:
Revolvers
Single Action Army Cavalry Model
Capt. Parmenter (Ken Berry), Sgt. O'Rourke (Forrest Tucker), Cpl. Agarn (Larry Storch), troopers, Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson) and Sgt. Crawford (James Griffith) carry Single Action Army "Cavalry" model revolvers throughout Season 1.
Single Action Army Artillery Model
Sgt. O'Rourke, Cpl. Agarn, Bill Colton (Vic Tayback ), Bob Colton (Robert Anderson), Sam Erp (Jack Elam), Pedro (unknown actor), Jim Sweeney (Richard Reeves), Mike O'Hanlon (Ben Gage) and several troopers are seen with Single Action Army "Artillery" model revolvers.
Single Action Army Quick Draw Model
El Diablo (Larry Storch) and Felipe (Tony Martinez) carry Single Action Army "Quick Draw" model revolvers. Trooper Duddleson uses a "Quick Draw" model revolver in one episode.
Rifles
Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine
Officers, Sgt. O'Rourke, troopers, and Shug warriors are seen with Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Carbines throughout Season 1. Hekawi warriors also use them in several episodes.
Trapdoor Springfield Model 1873
A continuity error occurs in "Honest Injun" (E12), as the troopers are all armed with Trapdoor Springfield Model 1873 rifles rather than carbines.
Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
The Shug Chief (Henry Brandon), Shug warriors and Johnny Eagle Eye (Paul Peterson) use the Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine.
Winchester Model 1892
Sgt. O'Rourke, Cpl. Agarn, Wrangler Jane and Trooper Duddleson are seen with Winchester Model 1892 rifles with octagonal barrels. Chief Mean Buffalo (Victor Jory) and Beware of Dog (Lou Wills Jr.) are also seen with Winchester Model 1892 rifles.
Lorenz Rifle
A rifle resembling the Lorenz Rifle is displayed in Capt. Parmenter's quarters throughout most of Season 1.
Shotgun
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
Sgt. O'Rourke uses a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun.
Other
Captain Parmenter's Revolver Collection
Capt. Parmenter has a collection of revolvers mounted on the wall of his quarters.
Shoe Gun
Capt. Parmenter and B Wise (Pat Harrington Jr.) are seen firing a shoe gun, i.e. a gun concealed in a shoe.
Model 1857 Light 12-pounder Gun
A cannon resembling the Model 1857 Light 12-pounder Gun, commonly referred to as the 12-pounder Napoleon, is seen in Episode 1. The same scene appears during the opening credits throughout Season 1.
Prop cannon
A cannon seen in Episode 1 is used by Union and Confederate soldiers. The same cannon is seen in Fort Courage throughout Season 1. It appears to be a prop due to the unusual barrel profile, lack of sights, lack of a knob on the cascabel, and unusual elevating hardware.
