purpose of page
What is the purpose of the page? The Double-Barreled Shotgun and Single-Barreled shotgun pages exist because there are too many commercial types of each which are impossible to properly identify. If we can identify each type of combination rifle, then what's the point? --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:26, 4 October 2018 (EDT)
- FCM basically took the words out of my mouth. --Ultimate94ninja (talk) 19:31, 4 October 2018 (EDT)
- We can't identify all the combination rifles easily. Like the double-barreled shotguns, many companies produce combination guns with extremely similar designs; Merkel, Hambrusch, Krieghoff, to name a few. So many more are made by custom gun shops scattered across Europe. The drillings that had appeared in the list of movies here were not conclusively identified, and are in a state similar to many of the Double-Barreled Shotgun appearances. The page should stay. --Wuzh (talk) 19:33, 4 October 2018 (EDT)
- Then also remove this page, because it is likewise useless. --Slon95 (talk) 12:08, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
- Maybe, it's better to create a cotegory for the combinated guns. For example, TP-82, Izhmekh IZh-56, M30 Luftwaffe Drilling, Izhmekh IZh-18 and Valmet Model 412 are the combination of rifle and shotgun. Pyramid Silent (talk) 18:47, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
- I think adding another category page for so few weapons on the site would be a waste. And Slon, hardly apples to apples comparison there. StanTheMan (talk) 15:10, 22 January 2019 (EST)

I have stated my reasons as to why I argue the combination gun page should be restored. Can the page be restored? --Wuzh (talk) 13:32, 22 January 2019 (EST)
- I have to agree with FCM, this isn't like muskets, single/double shotguns or even double rifles where there's such a high number of both models and appearances and in many cases few if any distinguishing characteristics where one model can't be as readily identified from another. I will add that it seems over time we have branched a few specific musket and shotgun pages off when we can specifically ID them accordingly. To make a general page for a type of firearm when we already have a series of specific model pages of said firearms seems like a regressive move by comparison. Especially when combo guns aren't (I very much doubt, anyway) nearly that prevalent either in manufacture much less in media. I think effort would be better spent working on IDing those few pieces and making the respective gun pages for them if they aren't already around. StanTheMan (talk) 15:10, 22 January 2019 (EST)
