Lone Survivor is a 2013 war drama directed by Peter Berg(Battleship). Based on the best-selling book Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by former U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Luttrell, who was a member of an ill-fated SEAL reconnaissance team that was ambushed in the mountains of northeastern Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings on June 28, 2005. The film also stars Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana, and went into limited release on December 25, 2013, with a wider release on January 14, 2014.
The following weapons were used in the film Lone Survivor:
A Beretta 92FS pistol is used by Matthew "Axe" Axelson (Ben Foster) after he runs out of ammunition for his rifle. In reality, the preferred sidearm of the Navy SEALs is the SIG-Sauer P226 Navy. Another SEAL draws his Beretta on a Chinook pilot.
Makarov PM
A Makarov PM with a stainless finish is used by Taraq (Sammy Sheik), the right hand man of Taliban commander Shah.
Michael P. Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) and other U.S. Navy SEALs use M4A1 carbines with a variety of attachments.
Mk 12 Mod 1 SPR
Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg) and Matthew Axelson (Ben Foster) are both armed with the Mk 12 Mod 1 Special Purpose Rifle. Luttrell's rifle features a solid stock while Axelson's has a collapsible stock, but both rifles have suppressors, Harris bipods, AN/PEQ-2 IR designators and Leupold MR/T scopes.
AK-47
A Taliban militant attempts to kill Matthew with his AK-47.
AKM
Most of the Taliban militants who attack the SEAL recon team are armed with AKM rifles. Mohammed Gulab (Ali Suliman) later uses an AKM while protecting Luttrell.
AKMS
Some of the Taliban fighters and villagers use AKMS rifles.
AKS-47
Other militants are seen firing what appear to be AKS-47 rifles.
Sniper Rifle
Norinco NDM-86
When Michael P. Murphy (Taylor Kitsch) surveys the village with his monocular, Murphy spots one of the Taliban militants carrying a Norinco NDM-86 on his back.
