Smith & Wesson M76
The killer (Albert Paulsen) who shoots up the bus at the film's beginning appears to be armed with a Smith & Wesson M76 submachine gun that has the barrel shroud removed. In some movie posters for the film, different SMG's are depicted as being used, including the MP40 and the Star Model Z45.
M16A1
A barricaded shooter uses an M16A1. SFPD SWAT officers are also armed with the rifle.
M1928A1 Thompson
A SWAT sergeant is seen armed with the M1928A1 Thompson.
Ithaca 37 Shotgun
The S.F.P.D. Swat officers use Ithaca 37 riot-guns when dealing with the barricaded shooter.
Federal L-5 Gas Riot Gun - 37mm
An SFPD SWAT officer uses the Federal L-5 Gas Riot Gun - 37mm to launch tear gas canisters.
Smith & Wesson Model 15 Snub
SFPD Detective Sergeant Jake Martin (Walter Matthau) is seen carrying, and using, a Smith & Wesson Model 15 Snub throughout the movie. Inspector Leo Larsen (Bruce Dern) also carries one.
