El Dorado is a 1966 Western that is considered the second film in Howard Hawks' "trilogy" of films that featured John Wayne in a story of a sheriff who must defend his office against an aggressive outlaw element in the town. The other two films are 1959's Rio Bravo and 1970's Rio Lobo. In this film, John Wayne stars as Cole Thornton, a gunfighter who helps an old friend protect a group of ranchers from a rival who had previously hired Colt. The film co-stars James Caan, Ed Asner, and Robert Mitchum (whose son Christopher Mitchum co-starred with Wayne in Rio Lobo).

Sheriff Harran's deputy Bull Harris (Arthur Hunnicutt) uses the Colt Model 1855.
Remington-Keene Repeating Rifle
The Remington-Keene Repeating Rifle makes a rare movie appearance in the hands of Mrs. MacDonald (Diane Strom). The version she is carrying appears to be the Remington-Keene Deluxe Sporter based on the design of the rifle stock and the long exposed barrel.
