Ice Station Zebra is a 1968 Cold War thriller based on the novel of the same name written by spy author Alistair Maclean (who had several of his novels adapted into films including Where Eagles Dare and The Guns of Navarone). Directed by John Sturges (The Great Escape), the film focuses on the crew of the U.S.S. Tigerfish, an American nuclear submarine, which under the guise of a rescue mission is sent to Antarctica to recover a crashed Soviet spy satellite.

Colt M1911A1
Commander James Farraday (Rock Hudson) carries a M1911A1 pistol as his sidearm.
Walther PPK
Mr. Jones (Patrick McGoohan), a British intelligence agent that accompanies the Americans, uses a Walther PPK throughout the film.
Webley Mk IV Pocket Model
A Webley Mk IV Pocket Model is used by Boris Vaslov (Ernest Borgnine).
Madsen M50
The Soviet paratroopers led by Colonel Ostrovsky (Alf Kjellin) are all armed with Madsen M50 submachine guns.
M16
The U.S Marine platoon providing security for USS Tigerfish during the mission are armed with M16 rifles. 1st Lieutenant Russell Walker (Tony Bill) and Captain Leslie Anders (Jim Brown) are both prominently shown handling the M16 at various points in the film, and some Navy sailors also hold M16s when they are engaged in a standoff with Soviet troops.
Mortars
Soviet paratroopers fire mortars with smoke rounds at the Americans after Farraday attempts to trick them, leading to a brief gun battle.
