The Outsiders (1983)

Smith & Wesson Model 39

The main gun Dally Winston (Matt Dillon) uses throughout the film is a Smith & Wesson Model 39 (which he claims he keeps unloaded). Dally first takes out of his convertible at the Dairy Queen, which he quickly hides in the glove compartment. After Johnny dies, Dally pulls it out on a doctor, dry firing it at him. He then uses it to rob a gas station (grocery store in the novel), where you can clearly see it has a single stack frame, making it a Smith & Wesson 39 and not a Browning Hi-Power. It is last seen when he makes his stand against the police.

Smith & Wesson Model 10

Along with $50, Dally Winston (Matt Dillon) gives Ponyboy Curtis (C. Thomas Howell) and Johnny Cade (Ralph Macchio) a Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver. Altough they never fire it, Johnny pulls it out when the guards approach the train car they're hiding in. The two police officers that fire on Dally are also armed with them.
