The Unforgettable Year 1919 (Nezabyvaemyy 1919 god)
The Unforgettable Year 1919 (Nezabyvaemyy 1919 god) is a 1951 Soviet two-part historical movie directed by Mikhail Chiaureli and adapted from eponymous play by Vsevolod Vishnevsky. It depicts the events of Russian Civil war in May 1919 when White troops of General Nikolai Yudenich, supported by British Navy, carry out a successful offensive on Red Petrograd. A mutiny against Bolsheviks breaks out on the Krasnaya Gorka, a powerful fortress guarding Petrograd. The story centers on the person of Joseph Stalin (Mikhail Gelovani) who is shown as the saviour of Petrograd and the Soviet Power.
The following weapons were used in the film The Unforgettable Year 1919 (Nezabyvaemyy 1919 god):
Both Reds and Whites, notably the Representative of Special Department of Baltic Fleet Vladimir Shibayev (Boris Andreyev), Bolshevik Potapov (Vladimir Ratomskiy), one of the leaders of the mutiny on Krasnaya Gorka fortress Kupriyanov (Ivan Gerasimov), and British agent Paul Dukes (Vladimir Kenigson), use Nagant M1895 revolvers.
Pistols
Mauser C96
Vladimir Shibayev (Boris Andreyev) and several other Red sailors carry Mauser C96 pistols. A Mauser is also used by the leader of the mutiny on Krasnaya Gorka fortress, former Russian Army Podporuchik (2nd Lt. rank), commandant of the fortress Nikolay Neklyudov (Andrei Popov).
FN Model 1900
Apart from the abovementioned Mauser C96, Nikolay Neklyudov (Andrei Popov) also carries an FN Model 1900 pistol. In one scene Vladimir Shibayev (Boris Andreyev) confiscates an FN 1900 from a White Colonel Pavel Vladimirovich Vadbolskiy (Pavel Massalsky), an envoy of Gen. Rodzyanko to White supporters in Petrograd.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Both Reds and Whites widely use Mosin Nagant Rifles. In most cases it's impossible to identify the exact model but those that are seen better appear to be M1891/30 version.
Out of time Karabiner 98k rifles, probably used as a replacement for correct Gewehr 98s, are seen in several scenes.
Machine Guns
Maxim
Maxim machine guns are used by both Reds and Whites. Some of them are definitely M1910s while some others can be M1910s or M1910/30s.
MG34
What appear an out of time MG34 is seen in Gen. Rodzyanko's headquarters.
MG42
What appear an out of time MG42 is seen in Gen. Rodzyanko's headquarters.
37-mm 70-K
37-mm 70-K AA autocannons, naval version of 61-K, are seen on some ships of Soviet Navy that appear in the movie. Of course, these guns weren't present in 1919.
Other Weapons
RG-14/30 Hand Grenade
Red sailors and workers widely use RG-14/30 hand grenades.
F-1 Hand Grenade
One of the sailors of Shibayev's unit carries a pair of "pineapple" hand grenades that appear to be F-1s, probably standing for Mills Bombs.
Trivia
Wall Firearms
A pair of long guns (muskets or shotguns) and a pair of percussion cap or flintlock pistols are seen on the wall on the estate where Gen. Rodzyanko's headquarters is located. These weapons aren't seen clear enough for identification.
Holsters
Artillery
Armoured Cars
Armoured Train
Joseph Stalin's armoured train is the Armoured Train No 620 of BP-43 pattern that appeared only in 1942 (the actual train was build in 1944). It consists of three artillery wagons, each with a single turret with 76.2mm F-34 gun, several flatcars and armoured locomotive.
Warships
Warships of Soviet Baltic Fleet appear in the movie as British Royal Navy and Red Navy ships.
