The Pelican Brief is a 1993 thriller based on the John Grisham bestseller and stars Julia Roberts as Darby Shaw, a young law student whose legal brief speculating on who was behind the assassination of two Supreme Court Justices puts her life in danger. Pakula, the director of such "paranoia" thrillers as The Parallax View, All the President's Men and Klute.
