The M16A1 is carried by pirates who taken sailors of the Nathan James hostage. A similar rifle is brandished by the man sailing the pleasure boat in "Sea Change" (S3E08).

US troops guarding the St. Louis White House are armed with M16A4 rifles in "Scuttle" (S3E10).
The pirate leader Takehaya (Hiroyuki Sanada) uses a carbine variant that resembles the CAR-15 "Commando" in "Dog Day" (S3E06).

A US Navy honor guard detail appearing to carry the Springfield M1A are seen guarding the entrance to the St. Louis White House when the new US President arrives in "Sea Change" (S3E08).
