Season 2 of True Detective features Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective from the fictional California city of Vinci, Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff detective, Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrolman, and Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a career criminal. Together, they must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of the murder of a corrupt city manager. Nic Pizzolato, who wrote all eight episodes of Season 1, scripted all eight episodes of Season 2, and several episodes were directed by Justin Lin. The series aired on HBO on June 2015.

SIG-Sauer P226 E2
The SIG-Sauer P226 E2 is a prominent weapon in the season. It is appears to be the service pistol used by the members of Ventura County Sheriffs Department, including Det. Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams). Various characters, including cartel members, operatives and transit security officers are also seen armed with the weapon.
SIG-Sauer P226 Elite
Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) is seen retrieving his nickel SIG-Sauer P226 Elite when someone knocks on his door in "Other Lives" (S02E05). He is later seen with it whilst searching a house and confronting cartel members in "Church in Ruins" (S02E06), and later whilst ambushing Osip and McCandless in "Omega Station" (S02E08).
Browning Hi-Power
Detective Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) and Chief William Holloway (Afemo Omilami) of the Vinci Police Department carry the Browning Hi-Power with wooden grips as their sidearms. In "Black Maps and Motel Rooms", Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) disarms Holloway of his Hi-Power, and uses it to fight off former Black Mountain mercenaries working for Ares Security.
Colt M1911
The leader of the Mexican cartel is seen with a Colt M1911 tucked in his waistband when he confronts Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) in "Omega Station" (S02E08).
Colt Combat Commander
Lieutenant Kevin Burris (James Frain) of the Vinci Police Department carries a Colt Combat Commander as his sidearm, using it in both "Black Maps and Motel Rooms" (S02E07) and "Omega Station" (S02E08).
Glock 17
Detective Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) is briefly seen with a holstered Glock 17 in a flashback to when he was a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. One of Frank's men and one of the cartel soldiers who confronts him in "Church in Ruins" (S02E06) are also armed with Glock 17s. A cartel member who carjacks Frank in "Omega Station" (S02E08) is also armed with a Glock. Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) is briefly seen with a Glock at the end of the same episode.

In "Down Will Come" (S02E04) Ledo Amarilla (Cesar Garcia) is seen dual wielding Glock 17s that have been converted to fire full auto.
Smith & Wesson 4006
Officer Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) of the California Highway Patrol carries a Smith & Wesson 4006 as his duty sidearm. This is correct since it's the handgun in service at CHP. In "Church in Ruins" (S02E06), a cartel soldier draws what appears to be a 4006 on Frank.
Smith & Wesson 639 (Nickel)
A cartel soldier draws a nickel plated Smith & Wesson 639 on Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) in "Omega Station" (S02E08).
Beretta 92FS
Multiple officers and detectives with the Vinci Police Department carry the Beretta 92FS as their duty sidearms, prominently seen during the firefight in "Down Will Come" (S02E04). Detective Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) attempts to use a fallen detectives Beretta after her P226 runs dry in the same episode, only to discover it is also unloaded. Ivar (Andy Mackenzie), one of Frank's men, is also seen armed with a Beretta in "Church in Ruins" (S02E06).
Heckler & Koch USP
In "Church in Ruins" (S02E06), Nails (Chris Kerson) is seen armed with a Heckler & Koch USP when accompanying Frank to an address used by a suspect in the Caspere murder.
