Carnivores 2 is the sequel to the 1998 hunting simulator Carnivores. Like its predecessor, Carnivores 2 revolves around the hunting of prehistoric dinosaurs on an an alien planet. Carnivores 2 adds more weapons, more dinosaurs, and larger hunting grounds. The game was directly followed by Carnivores Ice Age, which in turn was followed by Carnivores Cityscape and the popular fan game Carnivores Triassic. To this day, Carnivores 2 remains the more popular title of the franchise, due to the fact that it is rather simple and easy to mod. The game was eventually ported to the i/OS devices and the PlayStation 3. A remake was released on Steam during 2015 titled Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter Reborn.
The following weapons appear in the video game Carnivores 2:
Pistols
Browning BDA
A pistol that weakly resembles a Browning BDA (judging by the slide and overall shape) appears as a new weapon, being one of two weapons that the player can start off with before they can accumulate points for larger weapons. Extra manual text mentions it being chambered in '9mm,' and each magazine carries eight rounds. It's the weakest of the weapons, but is useful late in the game as a backup weapon to finish off a charging dinosaur.
Shotguns
Remington 870
What looks like a Remington 870 MCS Entry shotgun appears as the game's new shotgun. It's capable of firing buckshot (referred to as "buck-shot bullets" ingame), and the weapon maintains some usefulness even at long range. The 870 is loaded via a seven-round magazine which, for some very odd reason, is loaded directly, and entirely, into the magazine tube. The magazine itself doesn't even look large enough to carry seven shells. However, this is the future.
Double-Barreled Shotgun
A somewhat generic Double Barreled Shotgun appears in the game with what appears to be a mix of wooden and synthetic furniture. According to the gun's description, the shotgun is so loud that it can even scare certain carnivores away, such as the Velociraptor. The shotgun best resembles a Stoeger/IGA Coach gun.
KS-23
A weapon that appears to be similar to a Russian KS-23 appears in the game, called the 'Rifle.' In a way, this makes sense as KS-23 has a rifled barrel. Other than that, the weapon is treated as a hunting rifle, and not as a shotgun. The KS-23 is fed via a tiny magazine that is inserted straight into the handguard. The weapon is actually a retooling of the previous game's shotgun weapon, as it features both similar functionality and the shotgun's description. In fact, despite being called 'Rifle,' the game's description outright calls the weapon a shotgun (Technically not incorrect, as far as the KS-23 is concerned). The KS-23 also features the same ring sight that the Carnivores shotgun possessed. A KS-23 with a longer barrel and no ring sight is used as the select screen image of the 'Sniper Rifle,' although no actual ingame model for the scoped KS-23 exists. All the player sees of the scoped shotgun is, as one could guess, the scope.
Other
X-Bow
Though not a firearm, the ever important X-Bow appears once again in the franchise. It retains the same functionality as before, though it's now a tad more accurate.
