Built by Daewoo Prevision Industries of South Korea, the Daewoo K5 Pistol is the standard sidearm of the South Korean military. It is commonly carried by MPs, Security forces and Local Police units throughout South Korea as well. Their export version of the K5 is the DP-51. One way to indicate whether the pistol is a K5 or a DP-51 is the presence of an insignia in the pistol grip.
The DP51s are well known for being affordable surplus pistols with a unique "triple-action" trigger system. The pistol has an American variant, the Lionheart LH9.
