The ShAK-12, previously known as ASh-12.7 (Avtomat Shturmovoy > "Automatic Assault Rifle" - 12.7mm calibre) is a Close Quarters Battle or Dynamic Entry weapon. It is useful in penetrating cover or breaching doors. It can also be used to neutralize targets that are behind cover and/or wearing body armor.
