It's the same reason we also referred to the "R" generation as "P229R" even though that designation was not the official SIG nomenclature for very long. SIG P229

- I think you're right, but it looks like the P229 is an E2 throughout the film. Here, I composed an image from different points in the film (not seen on the main page):

- If you read the SIG page, we explain that we still refer to the newer version as "P229 E2" to distinguish it from older models, regardless of whether it has the white "E2" on the slide.
