:: The Minigun was a lightweight version developed by Dillion Aero with a Titanium Receiver, Rotor, De-Linker and several other parts to reduce the weight. ==Sgt. York==
I see you did Sgt. York, which I'm glad to see because that's a famous movie that the site can boast about owning. I have just a FEW more notes to add about proper page format.
* When listing a gun, you see we usually do it like this:
--M1911-- (substituting equal signs)
Sgt. Alvin York (Gary Cooper) guns down six German soldiers with his M1911 pistol.
(PICTURE OF GUN|Caption:Colt M1911 - .45 ACP.)
(Screencaps) | |||
What I mean is link all actors and guns to their appropriate pages by putting double brackets over them (that's why we have actor and gun pages, so the movie pages link to them). With guns, some pages have multiple categories, so linking them properly is prefered. Look at the edit to see how I write this: M16A1 Rifle.
I' | |||
Also, instead of writing "An example of said gun used in film", it is prefered you copy and paste what the image cpation says on its page or write it yourself and keep it basic. Like a 1911 picture could say "Colt M1911 - .45 ACP." This way caliber is listed as is the gun's name. (look at some of my newest pages and see what I mean)
But you have the right to make the pages however you want, it is just prefered you try to follow the site's format closely. Thanks. - Gunmaster45
::Thanks, there are still some users on here who are a little... ignorant of these guidlines. Glad to see you're willing to cooperate. - Gunmaster45
:I'm a little confused what you mean. Can you rephrase that somehow? - Gunmaster45
::BTW, I like your fixs to Sgt. York, but you don't need to link the title, just the info inside. And look at the Luger section, it is prefered you write a paragraph above the images instead of inside the images. The captions are usually used as guidlines so the viewer knows what's happening and when in the film. - Gunmaster45
== | ==Re: Mr. & Mrs. Smith 1911==
I'm pretty sure it is not a left handed gun, the image is just flipped (look at the DVD cover in which he holds the gun in his right hand, it appears to be properly flipped).
The webiste didn't have any images I could find so I couldn't compare. - Gunmaster45
::I checked out that image and I'm not too sure the lefty gun is right.
== | ==Actor Pages== | ||
I don't block actor pages and anyone who does seriously takes too much pride in their work. As if an actor page, which is the easiest to make, is going to be destroyed by someone adding info.
==Colt 1903 | In most cases, we protect pages from anonymous users. We see that the most serious people make a profile if they wish to knowledgabley add to the site. One too many anonymous users gave us garbage and trolled so we got sick of it. It usually isn't a concern but when I make a 40+ page, it is a pain to remove the dumb comments and such in a maze of information. So if we block the anonymous, the serious make profiles and the trolls move on. If they make profiles to continue trolling or saying dumb things, we ban them.
Thanks for the info. | |||
If anyone of the admins. blocks a page for sysop only access that doesn't need it at all, I'll have a talk with them. Only our profiles and rules pages need that protection. - Gunmaster45
==Chamelot Delvigne Model 1873==
You overwrote a net based image of the 1873 gun that I uploaded. Normally this is standard practice, since the replacing shot is much higher quality than the replaced image. I was just wondering. The original shot was of a blued revolver. Your replacing shots is of a revolver that's either 'in the white' or a different finish. Wouldn't it be better to have both images to show the different finishes?MoviePropMaster2008 08:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
==Actor pages== | |||
I noticed you put in a lot of actors pages from classic films which is good since I don't even have those movies that you've listed, but when you're screencapping the movie pages, could you get a good facial recognition screenshot of the actor for placement on the actor's page? Some of the actors I don't know and since I don't have those films I can't put up a decent shot which shows their faces. I usually screengrab a good shot of an actor or actress that is not a gun pic since when we're all doing gun pics, we always focus on whether the gun is clear in the shot, rather than the person. Anyway, that would be really cool if you did that. Thanks again. MPM2008
==Mauser== | |||
I didn't add the Mauser 98 entry. Someone else did it when I was updating the other Mauser pictures (so the history of the page looks like I did it when I was actually updating something else). As for my opinion, I'm with you. the Gewehr 98 and the Karabiner 98 should have their own pages since they are classic Mauser and way more famous than all the Mauser variants. I am going to remove the entry and put it as a footnote or a note in the summary. this page is for all of the 'forgotten' Mausers and also a guide to identifying them when we see them. Don't know if you noticed, but if you click on the image and click again, you'll see the picture at 1200 pixels wide. These are probably the biggest images of these Mauser variants on the web and can help non-Mauser experts see the details (I'm NOT a Mauser expert) but I will try to get pristine images of each variant that is listed on the page. best regards MoviePropMaster2008 07:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
== Machine Pistol Category? ==
I just saw you created a category for Machine Pistols, isn't that a bit redundant? I mean, don't machine pistols fall into the Submachine Gun category? I know it's a bit controversial in some gases (such as the Glock 18 for example), but it just seems a bit unnessicary to me. ==In the Line of Fire Llama==
Okay, I had no clue what I was writing when I did that, I was a total amateur when I added those pics. I have plans to add screencaps to that page at some point, Rafa was a little non-thorough. In fact, I plan to have a Clint Eastwood period, where I cap every Clint movie I own (and I own a LOT of them). A picture of the Llama would be excellent. - Gunmaster45
==XM16E1== | |||
I just saw the picture you uploaded of the XM16E1. Did you take that picture yourself profesionally like MPM does or did you just edit it together with MPM's pics. Either way it looks great. - Gunmaster45
:I don't think he'll mind TOO much as long as editing his pictures doesn't become a new fad among users. IMO the little things make a movie and it is a shame when people fail to notice these things. I'm not very good with helicopters but that's pretty impressive that you guys got real Hueys. I own WWS on VHS, and I might just have to watch it again now. - Gunmaster45
::That's a really nice picture of a LaFrance M16K. I was actually looking for one myself, but Google didn't give me what I wanted. I believe Jackie Chan also used one in Police Story 3: Supercop, so I'll add it to that page. -MT2008 04:08, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
::BTW, speaking of We Were Soldiers, I remember Mike did an interview where he said that CW actually manufactured the AK-47s used by the NVA in the movie. ==XM16E1 Photo==
Thanks! for the note on the XM16E1. It was appreciated. Well I am back from a pretty tough assignment (14 hour days and nothing but grief) Actually I didn't know who did what on the franken guns. I was not really paying attention for months to the m16 page and only concentrated on the AP74 22 clones at the bottom. I didn't even know that some guy (Kin93) out of Hong Kong had made so many franken guns out of my pics. But after a really BAD week (which I will go into on a general note later) I scanned up on the M16 page and saw literally a bunch of Franken M16 pics. It wasn't so bad, in just it was just the topper of a really bad week (where someone in the real world took a custom shotgun I built, replaced the buttstock, and then showed it off to various art directors as a gun 'HE' built even though I did 99.99% of the work). So it was kinda just the straw that bent (not broke! :) ) the Camel's back for that time. I KNEW I had to take a break, and I sure felt better when I put a stop to the 'picture requests'. like a weight was taken off my back. (Also I was getting a little TOO wound up over the wave of new anonymous/newbie users whose gun knowledge is only airsoft/Video Games making wrong edits on all the pages. It was bound to happen and is the risk we all take on an open wiki page. Anyway THANKS for the note. If you don't mind, I will try to build up a gun (I have a chromed bolt carrier somewhere) and actually do the pic. I am now motivated to photograph real versions of the Franken guns, also so that we (IMFDB) don't get accused of 'creating virtual/fictional weapons' on the Internet.) Hope you've been doing well. best regards MPM

==LaFrance Specialties M16K Question==
Hi Steve, I'm screencapping The Dead Pool right now and one of the assassin's trying to kill Dirty Harry is wielding an AR-15 pistol which I'm pretty is a LaFrance Specialties M16K, except it has a forward assist, unlike the picture you took, which is a slab-side:
| |||
Are there versions of the gun that have an A1-style reviever with a forward assist or can you steer me towards what it would be with an A1-reciever? Here's an image I just made:

:It seems to be gone from my talk page now, but thanks for the info on the P228s. Much appreciated. I knew I had seen that type of laser-control grip before, just couldn't remember the brand name off the top of my head. -MT2008 05:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
==Collateral== | |||
Hi Steve, I have a quick question for you. On the Collateral page, Matt said that the Jericho 941 in the film was the only gun we see used by the club security guard, I'm assuming because he discussed it with you? Anyway, the gun clearly has a different slide design and trigger guard, so I don't think it is a Jericho. Do you have any information on the matter? - Gunmaster45

==Widescreen== | |||
If it weren't for all the modern movie pages people made with FULL screen DVDs.... sigh... that would be interesting. Also quite a few films were shown wide screen, but only released full screen (some of the lower B movies from the 1990s for example, including movies that I myself worked on). How would we reconcile the tag "released in widescreen" when we can only get FULL screen "Screenshots" for the movie page. best regards and a Happy Easter MoviePropMaster2008 02:12, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
==AMT== | |||
Fascinating :) I don't profess to be an expert on the AMT. That pistol I photographed is my own gun from blank adapted inventory (which is usually the case with 85% of my gun pics) and I looked at the gun in my hand from several angles, and that screenshot sure looks darker than possible with just lighting. I wonder if the propmasters on set 'subdued' the finish some how with black paint. I know of some people personally who have subdued their Stainless guns because of personal preference. Anyway, I always welcome insider information like that :) the pistol I have is a BACK II, don't know what the Back up I or previous variation is like. :) If you have access to a good historical summary I would love to see it on the Backup gun page :) thanks and best regards. MPM
PS. It's funny. I have a lot of these guns but I don't catch the tell all details that enable someone to Identify it. Only when someone IDs the gun I pull it out of the vault and look at it from different angles (which is really helpful) and sure enough, it's THAT gun (something I should have known but didn't notice). Anyway, for any other page as well, feel free to pipe in when my eyes misidentify a gun! :)

:I have a question about Man on Fire. There's something weird about the Glock 34 used by Denzel. Here's a screenshot taken from Legion's Fate's blog:
:http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh284/CTone03/Guns%20in%20movies/Man%20on%20Fire/?action=view¤t=Glock34IGen.jpg
:http://fateoflegions.blogspot.com/2008/11/movie-guns-xxviii.html
:You can see that in this shot, the Glock has a Gen 2-style frame, but in the shots which appear on our page, it has a Gen 3 frame with accessory rails. And Legion's Fate himself also notes that the barrel of this Glock is not ported, which it should be. Plus, I'm not sure the Glock 34 was ever available with the Gen 2 frame (as best I know, it was introduced after the Gen 3 styling had been introduced), so was one Glock 34 a custom job that CW did for the movie, while the other was a standard factory weapon? -MT2008 01:36, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
== Re: Dukes of Hazzard, The (TV Series) ==
Thanks! I noticed you made some adjustments and I certainly appreciate the help! I just finished the first two seasons tonight and I'll try and do the rest of the show during the next week or so, so feel free to make any more adjustments you see as you'd be the expert. The show certainly had a lot more guns than I remember, especially considering that the two main characters never handled them at all! ==Old movies==
For the record, I must say I am delighted that you have become the 'custodian' or 'gate keeper' of classic B&W war and noir crime/gangster films. I don't particularly watch these films myself, so I would never have contributed them, but they ARE an important part of film (and guns in movie) history, and I am happy that you are adding so much rich movie history to IMFDB. MoviePropMaster2008 20:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
:I agree with MPM all the way on this, I think your collection of such classic movies is very impressive and great for imfdb! You're very good at identifying the firearms (even if the film's resolution isn't that great, which can really hinder me when I try and work with older films). I noticed you were able to help out on some of my pages like White Heat, but I know there were a few weapons in Little Caesar, The Public Enemy, and Scarface (1932) that I was having trouble with. If you'd ever be able to check those out, I'd greatly appreciate it! I have some other older B&W films I'll be putting on soon (once finals week is over) so you can always feel free to check them out and make any adjustments (I trust your word over mine, I'm certainly no expert!) Thanks for all your great contributions! Speakeasy804 04:12, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
::Great, thanks, I appreciate it! That's an interesting and clever way of ID'ing the images, I wish I could do something like that. Yes, I knew about that. I track Nikki Finke and also get the L.A. Weekly, they seem to have a real pulse on the issue. What I Don't like is how they estimate all of the lost $$ because of the 'lack of signing' of the contract, but the idiots in the press only count ACTOR'S WAGES, not everyone else's! So all of the caterers, art designers, costumers, grips, carpenters, couriers, lighting designers, camera crews, and of course, the rental houses like GUNS or the all important, Armorer ;) ... our lost income isn't counted. If they did, the cost would be immeasureably higher. I love how all of the rest of us in the industry are INVISIBLE. Anyway, Rant OFF ;) MPM2008

I noticed that on the Pulp Fiction page, you said that the "hand cannon" used was a Taurus Model 66. :Thanks; I noticed all the Thin Man pages, they look great! Also, I was curious if the other Pulp Fiction guns were correct, I had basically the same labels as were on before but someone on the page was wondering the MAC-10 was a MAC-11 and the revolver I have labeled as a Smith & Wesson Model 36 appears to be a hammerless model. :Ha I can't even imagine what that'd be like, I'll bet you've worked with a pretty good amount of actors in that capacity. And good work with the B&Ws, I'm going to try and get my hands on a few but I'll probably have Thunder Road (with Robert Mitchum) up by the end of the week. I just got some DVDs with a good number of old 1940s/1950s noirs so I can make some pages for those. Also, if you have a chance, could you check the image of Tony's armory (the 2nd photo under the Thompson entry) to see if there's anything you could identify? ==7.7mm Arisaka Type 02 Paratrooper Takedown rifle==
I actually had one in original configuration when I was 18 years old. It was a gift along with a bunch of other Imperial Japanese firearms. Some FFL told me that the gun was worthless and offered to take it off my hands for $150.00. Being a stupid teenager I sold the rifle. I also sold this same 'expert' my 7.7 dedicated Arisaka sniper rifle with Nikon late war scope (with chrysanthemum). I guess that was a bitter lesson early in life... :) On Dirty Harry, it's hard to ID the weapon (now since I don't have mine any more) from the sportization. I do have some Sporterized Type 99 rifles rechambered for 30.06. I was buying them up for almost nothing, at gun shows during the 1980s when I needed background generic hunting rifles. == Re: Scarface (1932) ==
Thank you very much for the help there. I made an entry for the page using the rundown you gave me (giving credit where it is due, of course) rather than making a new entry for each gun and posting the same picture several times throughout the page. I recall trying to get a good shot of Cesca's rifle but I don't believe I was able to get one. I'll try again now, as I'm determined to make the page a little more organized and complete-looking once we can get her rifle identified and Guarino's revolver. His shouldn't be too difficult, but I'm unable to clearly see the sights, cylinder release, etc. to identify it. I'll pop the DVD back in soon to see if I can get better images of either gun. - Speakeasy804 06:59, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

The Lighning and Thunderer are my weak points. I'd assume the Cimmaron Bird's Head could go on the SAA page, but adding things like Uberti replicas is usually only necessary when we don't have anything better, and MPM uploaded genuine Colts. - Gunmaster45
==Calico M100== | |||
I'm confused here. why would I remove my image of the standard configuration and replace it with a customized version? The standard configuration appears in films, so actually removing my pic and replacing it doesn't make sense to me. If you mean substituting the custom gun for movie pages where it is actually used? Well that's what we want to do anyway. But don't replace MY pic of the original configuration gun.
[Edit] You mentioned M100. Are you talking about the M100 rifle? or did you actually mean the M110 Pistol (which is NOT my pic and is a crappy google jacked image). :)
As for the RU page, I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the page (I think that russian based page is starting to get funky when it comes to viruses, because my security software is starting to go haywire when I go there).
[Edit} Is it the M110 pistol on the Guns RU page? I have managed to clip save that image, but I wanted to make sure we were talking about the same image.
Thanks, Also which films did these custom m100s appear in? Also are they still available for photos? :) Thanks again. MPM

Thanks for the correction on that rocket launcher, too. I wasn't sure what it was. Also, do you by chance have any idea what those Unknown SMGs are? :Thanks, although they might be pretty hard to find. MPM2008 was unable to ID them; he thinks they might be something manufactured in Canada that was never imported to this country (Viper and Smallville were both filmed in Canada). Given their relatively crude appearance, I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually something homemade by the shows' armorer. -MT2008

:I like it! I think it works much better than the way we do things now. Dunno how the other admins feel, but I imagine they'll agree with me that it makes the pages look way more organized. The center one (with title, actor, character, and date) is probably the best way to go. The only thing I'm not sure about is dates, only because we've heretofore neglected to put them down, but I guess we can try it. Since the news of David Carradine's death :( I was cruising around IMFDB and I noticed a nice touch to Charlton Heston's page. Someone put a photo of him, not a screenshot, in which it simply stated, "Charlton Heston: 1923 - 2008" I wanted to do something similar to Brandon Lee's page (1965-1993) :( , but I also thought that it would be nice (but completely optional) to put a DOB-DOD listing on actors who have passed away. I was going to do one for PhoenixEnt's page for Morris Ankrum the actor, I was going to put (1896-1964) but I figured I would check first. Also I thought it would be nice to know which of our famous actors have passed on. Thoughts anyone? I'm not going to do any sort of mass campaign to do so, but to know that no one else has objections would be nice. :) MPM2008

Yeah, I think it would be great if we had some good pics. A Google image search turns up relatively poor-quality pictures of both the carbine and pistol, so we would have bragging rights for only good pics of those guns on the 'Net. Haha...anyway, I guess it would best to group them together, since that's what we usually do with weapons that are the same basic design (i.e. SP89 and HK94 both go on MP5 page).

They are being yanked out from behind museum glass cases for the shoot for IMFDB. That's pretty exciting. I am trying just for classic examples of original historical guns. I've been watching some movies which allegedly feature the FN Minimi/M249 Paratrooper, and realized the guns in question may be a different LMG. If you want examples of what I mean, check these out.
Here's an M249 Para model taken by MPM:
| |||
...and here are some movies/TV shows which allegedly feature this gun:
| |||
| |||

| |||
In all of these movies, the guns look almost like Minimi variants, but something's not right about the receivers and front sights on them. Which leads me to suspect they may not be M249s or Minimi variants at all, but rather something else. What do you think? -MT2008 01:50, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
:Aha! I should have known. Also, it seems Ron Blecker or members of his team were the armorers and military advisers on all of these shows, so that's the common denominator. Well, when I get back, I think I had better make a page for the Daewoo K3, using the new format.

:One other question...should we continue to italicize the titles of the movies/TV shows/games, exactly as we did in the old format? Also, I'm working on the Daewoo K3 page now. If you can help me out with info, it would be appreciated. For instance, do you remember who was the U.S./Canadian importer for the K3? Was it the same company that imported the K1 and K2 in both civvie and LEO versions? -MT2008 03:15, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
::I guess I'm just pretty surprised because I figured the M249 would be the cheaper gun to acquire, seeing as it's manufactured on these shores. Why were the K3s cheaper? Were the M249s just not being offered for anyone besides the military at the time? I would love to write a better summary on the Daewoo K3 page explaining why they're used as M249 stand-ins, but since I'm not an armorer, I'm scared I might get details wrong.
::If you don't mind taking a picture of one of the vismodded K3s, that would really be awesome. ==Templates==
I think the templates are looking pretty good, although they stretch all the way across the screen when not next to an image, which may cause problems for people with small screens (they would have to scroll sideways, which can be a pain). I don't know if this can be fixed but if it can I'm throwing it out there. Just wondering, is there anyway to put lines in between each entry, so the films are seperated by columns? I figure if the entries are in a more chart like organization it will be easier to see what lines up with what. If not it's no big deal but I was just wondering. - Gunmaster45
I think the templates are coming out great as well, I like the way it is on the Steyr AUG, were the years are listed earliest at the top and most recent at the bottom. ==Template==
Thanks for the note. To the mods: Though my own preference is strongly towards chronological order, I can accede to the wishes of the majority. I do like the format of Title First, before actor. Please note all, in the Steyr AUG page that the title, then character, then actor template, dovetails nicely into the other genres (television) but also Anime and Video games. Since there is no Character in some and no Actor in Anime or Videgame, I think this order maintains the same look from Film all the way down to VG. Thanks and please look at the page to see what I was referring to. Thanks again. MoviePropMaster2008 04:27, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
==More on Templates== | |||
Hi, Steve, | |||
I think the way you did the [1911]] page (and thanks for taking time and doing that, BTW) is pretty much perfect and should be the standard. There are only two suggestions I'd make:
(1.) I think we should probably put the Title before actor, as MPM suggested, just because that seems to make a bit more sense. When we were doing the standard bullet point list, it made more sense to say "<actor> as <character> in <title>", but as a straightforward table, I think it would make more sense to go with title first. I imagine that's what most people's eyes are drawn to, anyway, but maybe that's just me.
(2.) Chronological order should probably be the most recent films first, and then work our way backwards. That way, any time a new film comes out with a particular gun, it'll be near the top of the list, since it seems like many visitors come to our site to look for guns in current movies (as evidenced by the disproportionately high number of views on our pages for last summer's blockbusters like The Dark Knight and Wanted, both of which got tens of thousands of hits when those films were in theaters).
I have one other question: Have we figured out how we're going to handle situations where multiple actors handled the same gun (or same type of gun) in a particular movie or TV show? Do we list each actor on a separate line? That's the one and only issue with the tables that I think we need to figure out. I'm not really sure what to do about this myself. -MT2008 04:50, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
::After looking at the test templates, I really like the one with each bit of information in its own box. It makes it easier to read across without mixing things up. Thanks for figuring that out, I'm starting to like this template stuff now. You may have noticed I've been applying it to the actor pages I've made recently, although I might go back and try it with columns now. BTW, when everyone agrees on the final product of this template stuff, please make sure the Test Template Page is cleaned up and user friendly so I know exactly which template to use for Actor and Gun pages. It is kind of trial and error currently because the page is also a discussion page so its hard to find what I need. Sorry if I'm adding more work to do but you seem to know how this stuff works better than I do (I'm still trying to memorize all of the simple code stuff so I don't need to constantly copy and paste). - Gunmaster45
:::Hey Steve, check out the Daniel Roebuck page to see the box-style format in use. I like it! - Gunmaster45
:It's not bad but I still kind of like the boxes personally because everything is both vertically and horizontally seperated, where as the newest one only horizontally seperates the entries. ::Sorry for the late response Steve, I just got back from a four-day trip to LA. I really like the new template and my vote is for chronological order as well. == Just a note ==
The way I was doing it was placing the TOC call straight after the poster image; that avoids shunting the introductory text down below the table, and means you get a good intro where the Following guns are used: heading is right above the table of contents that lists them all. Dongs 02:32, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
What I did for Crysis, Far Cry and King Kong (2005) was to put the title image below the text. I've edited the link you gave me, take a look now: http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=A_Slight_Case_of_Murder&oldid=136910
Now, this isn't perfect for that article because it has a long lead-in with a small pic, and it might be ok to just put the TOC after the text with the picture at the start; I don't think there'll be issues with the picture being larger than the intro as with some articles. It's mainly for ones like Kong where the poster was shoving the table off the bottom of the page when it first loaded up. Dongs 02:47, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

==Public Enemies== | |||
Hi Steve, after watching Public Enemies and doing some work to the page, I was hoping you could answer some questions on the guns in the movie, since I see you took pictures of some of the screen used props.
* Were Johnny Depps M1911A1 pistols in the film chambered in .38 Super? Or any character's 1911 for that matter?
* The page lists the M1928A1 Thompson being in the film. I never saw it in the configuration shown on the page, were they mocked up as 1921s by adding foregrips? Also, I never saw a 1903 Hammer Colt, where was that used?
* Do you know any of the revolvers used in the movie? I couldn't ID them in the theater and can't remember them well.
* The .38 Machine Pistol. I gotta know more about this thing. Who built it, was it actually in .38 Super, all that stuff would be awesome.
So if you have any info, please let me know. Thanks. :) - Gunmaster45
::Thanks, the information was very useful. So you're saying the Thompsons in the film are 1928s not 1921s? Or was it a mix of both? Because I saw some firing drastically slower than others, which led me to believe both were used. And I would have assumed they would have used 9mm 1911s to represent .38 Super 1911s, but I guess they only did that for the Machine Pistol. Anyway, thanks a ton, this will definately help the page out. - Gunmaster45
:::I mis-read your Thompson post, I get it now ;) - Gunmaster45
:::Yeah, we'll have to wait for the DVD for better IDs. I saw tons of revolvers in the Crown Point jail armory, but I couldn't ID any of them . I did ID one Colt Official Police used by the FBI agent who charges Dillinger outside the theater. And that was a Colt 1928 machine gun? I thought it was a 1917 water cooled Browning. Hrrm. BTW, do you know if the 03A3 rifles were Springfields or Remingtons? Same goes for the Browning A5/Remington 11s in the film, what were they? Thanks. - Gunmaster45

Recently I completed formatting the FN Minimi,FN FiveseveN.The G36 article is almost complete with the exception of the G36K section.Hope to complete the Glock and MP5 article soon for which I may need your help too.I also agree with MT2008 that there should be a seperate column for episodes in the television section.-SB2296
:Actually, I'm beginning to think maybe I shouldn't have made my suggestion about the Television column, because the problem is that when guns appear on shows, they tend to appear on MANY episodes, not just one. In which case, the only thing the column will say is, "Various episodes" or something to that extent. I think a better idea is to just briefly mention episodes and other details (such as how the character uses the gun - i.e. "Standard sidearm of ______") in the "Notes" column.
:Also, I am trying to get the M16 page updated to the new format (which is going to take a LONG time, as you can imagine). Hope to get it done this holiday. At some point, I also want to work on the Beretta 92 pistol series page. -MT2008 15:15, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
==The Shadow== | |||
I'm watching The Shadow on TV right now, and I gotta say, those "Silver Heat" pistols are very cool. I also read your interview from the page, and I like the insite you gave. After watching the scene on the bridge, I think it's pretty funny how the drum flew off the guy's Thompson. And Alec Baldwin's problem with the safeties was an interesting fact too (you could see he kind of let the pistol's noses hang when he was shooting them). Anyway, nice work, sometimes I forget I'm talking to a guy who in my opinion, is very famous. :) - Gunmaster45
::Cool, can't wait to see. And were you wearing ear protection, or were they just so loud you could tell even with ears on? Aside from the Grizzlies, I saw your Thompson (1921, 1928, or custom?), a Colt DS, and a Remington Rolling Block cavalary pistol. Also both the bad guy and Baldwin fired guns at each other where the bullets hit head on, what were those pistols? I didn't see the end so I may have missed some stuff but I think I might pick that movie up now. It was kind of cool. - Gunmaster45
:::Awesome, thanks. I thought the snubbie was a Colt DS but I guess not. Anyway, I'm trying to get Tightrope, but the only place I can get it is best buy and I can't go there till monday. One last thing, do you think I could use the box-column format on one of the bigger gun pages so people can see how that looks? Because I still really like the box-column style, but I'm not so hot on the non-box style being used on the other pages. - Gunmaster45

== Armorer page idea == | |||
Hey, I haven't checked the forums in awhile so I don't know if anyone's had this idea before, but I was wondering if we should set up a way of making pages for movie armorers or at least one page with the armorers and links to the movies they've done. I'm not sure how it would be set up, but I just wanted to consult with anyone else to see if this would be a good idea. I figured these guys do a ton of work and it'd be great to see who all's worked on what, etc. Again, if anyone's had this idea before just ignore this but I was just thinking it might be neat to honor these guys. Let me know what you think! Speakeasy804 05:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
==1911 adaptation== | |||
As a film armorer and fan of older movies I was hopeing you could answer a question I had on blank-adapted automatics in older films. In alot of older movies I have seen automatic pistols are pointed and waved around but most actual shooting is done with revolvers. I read years ago about how 1911 pistols could not be adapted to cycle blanks untill fairly recently, but how well did other automatics handle blanks in the 1920's-40's era films. Also, if you could tell me when exactly the process for altering 1911 pistols was developed it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your responce to my question concerning blank adaption for 1911 pistols. I quick follow up question on a similar subject occured to recently. Many old WWI movies from the early 1920's feature large numbers of Maxim machine guns and other early recoil operated weapons. Being as many of these guns were the first self-loading designs developed, thus the first guns requiring modification for blanks, how did early armorers approach and solve these issues. Where these early machine easy to modify for blank fire or did they simply fire live rounds on camera as you described. Also, just out of curiosity, when they fired live rounds on screen in early movies did they use standard or special, low-powered ammunition. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

There must be at least some XM16E1s in the industry, which would explain movies like The Green Berets which have featured them (after all, in the 1960s, there weren't any AR clone makers who would have built the M16A1-style lower with the ribbing around the mag release button).

Interesting that the production company actually made an 'official' facebook page and uploaded all those Behind the Scenes shots. Should we excise IMFDB of the pics when supposedly the pics have been released through a social networking site? Just curious. Now I've had BTS shots that I did not approve of me working on stuff end up on social networking sites but those were of crew who were snapping their own pics which should not have been allowed. ==1911's in films==
I sent this comment to MT2008 and MPM about adding this disclaimer to the M1911A1 section.
Note many in the list below could actually be Colt Mark IV Series 70/80 Government Models, Springfield Armory, or another manufacturer. Instead of a former military issued M1911A1, unless its a war film. Since the markings of the gun aren't always clear, M1911A1 is a catch-all term. Being most 1911 manufacturers pistols are based off the M1911A1 platform.
Matt made a comment about also stating a lot of them probably being chambered or converted to 9mm for better reliability. When did that practice stop (or is it still done) and .45s became more reliable? From what I could tell it wasn't until the mid or late 80s. At least that's what I could get from looking over this auction list . (Magnum P.I. and Blues Brothers had 9mm Series 70s, while late 80s and early 90s Seagal films had .45 Series 70s.) What was the most common Colt 1911 variant in Stembridge's inventory before other manufacturers started producing them, surplus M1911A1's or Series 70/80? Where there a lot of factory 9mm Series 70s or converted .45s to 9mm? --Predator20 23:13, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
:Dang I'm going to have to add a lot more info to the disclaimer. Thanks for the info. The Post War/Pre Series 70 Government Models were only available in .45 and 38 Super, not in 9mm, correct? It wasn't until the Series 70 did I remember seeing them in 9mm. It was available in the Commander. There could be 9mm conversion barrels easy enough. But I'm not sure about parts in that era. I figure most likely Star Model B for most extended firing scenes in that era. Like The Wild Bunch & The Getaway (1972). Now before they were taken down, the full auto 1911 used in Public Enemies looked like it was Post War/Pre Series 70 Government (the pic was the ejection port side, which didn't have the caliber listed which is usually seen on the Pre War Commercials, making it a Post War). It was chambered in 9mm, which means it was originally in .38 Super, before it was converted, unless they have better luck converting .45 to 9mm these days. --Predator20 01:53, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
::Yeah when you told me about converting 38 Supers to 9mm blanks it made think of the gun in Public Enemies. Just glad it was a Post War instead of a Pre War, that would have been heartbreaking to me. I wish those screen used guns could get put back up.:( In Cobra you can see 9mm Conversion Unit on the slide (the tapered barrel is a giveaway too). I hardly ever see Series 70 or 80 9mm come up for sale, so that makes sense about Stembridge getting a bunch of 9mm Government Models from Colt. In that auction list there were several 9mm Series 80 Models that weren't even listed as being converted to blanks. --Predator20 04:48, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
:: | |||
They made Colt National Match in 38 Super? I remember seeing a Super Match 38 Super, but those are pricey. I have seen National Match in .38 Special mid range, which you had to fire wadcutters. (They were made before the Mark IV series, if I remember right) But if they made a 9mm Conversion, a 38 Super would be easy enough also since the slides would be the same. S&W Highway Patrolman's are Model 28s only right? We got Clint's gun listed as a Model 19 in A Perfect World. Looking at the screencaps it seems a bit large. --Predator20 20:04, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
| |||
| |||
Wow that's crazy, you said it came from Mexico. Maybe they had special export run, since they aren't allowed .45 ACP in Mexico. With the Model 28's that seems crazy they didn't see much use. Maybe they had script changes or scenes that were deleted. The Glock 19's marked 23, are there some productions that are that anal about having to have a .40 Glock?
Also is it okay to use that summary you wrote about the 1911 blanks use with some rewording? I would send it to you to make sure you're okay with the changes.
I know you have got to be tired of my questions but I'm going to ask anyway. (Since you actually answer mine.) Why are some revolvers converted to blanks only? I know on some that had the cylinders bored to fire more common blanks that sense. But on some it seems like a gun was ruined for no reason. --Predator20 18:14, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
:A history on the armories of the past sounds like a great idea, it would be a worthwhile feature here. Original Prop has a few articles from old magazines on Stembridge. Hello,
Could you tell me how you got the compensator mounted flush to the slide of the HK 45 in Predators?

::The compensator was built so it could use the threads in the barrel that are for the BFA. I machined the comp to blend with the slide per customers request. I have photos of the comps prior to installation but I will not be posting those as they are for my personal use. --phoenixent 14:05, 16 March 2011 (CDT)
Thank you, so you basically slipped the compensator over a threaded barrel and used a “nut” to secure the compensator in place (attaching the nut from the front of the compensator).--Sauerkret 14:25, 18 March 2011 (CDT)
:: That's is correct but the setup is different on a blank pistol due to the internal thread for the BFA so we could not thread the outside for a nut so we made a barrel extension using the the internal threads of the BFA. --phoenixent 15:24, 20 March 2011 (CDT)

== Kampfpistole (Z) == | |||
Hi there, sorry to bother but could I ask your assistance in renaming the Kampfpistole Z page to just Kampfpistole (without the 'Z')? Reason is that I just read an article about this gun in a Dutch gun magazine (yes, we have those too!). In there it says that the gun was simply the already existing flare pistol Modell 1934 (German: 'Leuchtpistole 1934') that had grooves added from 1943 onwards for more accurate delivery of explosive charges.
This version went by two names; most common one was Kampfpistole (German: 'battle pistol'). However, alternatively it was also referred to as Leuchtpistole Z (German: 'flare pistol Z') with the 'Z' referring to 'Züge' which is the German word for 'grooves', to differentiate from the basic flare pistol Modell 1934 that had no grooves. I know this can be fixed with the 'Move' button but to be honest I am not confident to use that function. Can you assist please? , I'm going to do the mini-series Lonesome Dove. I also plan to do Young Guns and eventually The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James. But first I have to finish the damn Boondock Saints. - Gunmaster45
- Someone built a page for Appaloosa and it has a nice picture of Viggo with the 8 gauge so I think your picture would work now. - Gunmaster45
Hi
I see that you helped We Were Soldiers. Did you posted that comment on the hand held minigun in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and what do you mean? - Kenny99
- The minigun in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is modified to be futuristic. - Kenny99
- The Minigun was a lightweight version developed by Dillion Aero with a Titanium Receiver, Rotor, De-Linker and several other parts to reduce the weight. I made the D grip and pistol grip mount to set it up as a hand held weapon. --phoenixent 19:28, 17 November 2011 (CST)
Sgt. York
I see you did Sgt. York, which I'm glad to see because that's a famous movie that the site can boast about owning. I have just a FEW more notes to add about proper page format.
- When listing a gun, you see we usually do it like this:
--M1911-- (substituting equal signs)
Sgt. Alvin York (Gary Cooper) guns down six German soldiers with his M1911 pistol.
(PICTURE OF GUN|Caption:Colt M1911 - .45 ACP.)
(Screencaps)
What I mean is link all actors and guns to their appropriate pages by putting double brackets over them (that's why we have actor and gun pages, so the movie pages link to them). With guns, some pages have multiple categories, so linking them properly is prefered. Look at the edit to see how I write this: M16A1 Rifle.
- Thanks, there are still some users on here who are a little... ignorant of these guidlines. Glad to see you're willing to cooperate. - Gunmaster45
- I'm a little confused what you mean. Can you rephrase that somehow? - Gunmaster45
- BTW, I like your fixs to Sgt. York, but you don't need to link the title, just the info inside. And look at the Luger section, it is prefered you write a paragraph above the images instead of inside the images. The captions are usually used as guidlines so the viewer knows what's happening and when in the film. - Gunmaster45
Re: Mr. & Mrs. Smith 1911
I'm pretty sure it is not a left handed gun, the image is just flipped (look at the DVD cover in which he holds the gun in his right hand, it appears to be properly flipped).
The webiste didn't have any images I could find so I couldn't compare. - Gunmaster45
- I checked out that image and I'm not too sure the lefty gun is right.
Actor Pages
I don't block actor pages and anyone who does seriously takes too much pride in their work. As if an actor page, which is the easiest to make, is going to be destroyed by someone adding info.
In most cases, we protect pages from anonymous users.
If anyone of the admins. blocks a page for sysop only access that doesn't need it at all, I'll have a talk with them. Only our profiles and rules pages need that protection. - Gunmaster45
Chamelot Delvigne Model 1873
You overwrote a net based image of the 1873 gun that I uploaded. Normally this is standard practice, since the replacing shot is much higher quality than the replaced image. I was just wondering. The original shot was of a blued revolver. Your replacing shots is of a revolver that's either 'in the white' or a different finish. Wouldn't it be better to have both images to show the different finishes?MoviePropMaster2008 08:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Actor pages
I noticed you put in a lot of actors pages from classic films which is good since I don't even have those movies that you've listed, but when you're screencapping the movie pages, could you get a good facial recognition screenshot of the actor for placement on the actor's page? Some of the actors I don't know and since I don't have those films I can't put up a decent shot which shows their faces. I usually screengrab a good shot of an actor or actress that is not a gun pic since when we're all doing gun pics, we always focus on whether the gun is clear in the shot, rather than the person. Anyway, that would be really cool if you did that. Thanks again. MPM2008
Mauser
Machine Pistol Category?
I just saw you created a category for Machine Pistols, isn't that a bit redundant? I mean, don't machine pistols fall into the Submachine Gun category? I know it's a bit controversial in some gases (such as the Glock 18 for example), but it just seems a bit unnessicary to me. Orca1 9904 21:28, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
In the Line of Fire Llama
Okay, I had no clue what I was writing when I did that, I was a total amateur when I added those pics. I have plans to add screencaps to that page at some point, Rafa was a little non-thorough. In fact, I plan to have a Clint Eastwood period, where I cap every Clint movie I own (and I own a LOT of them). A picture of the Llama would be excellent. - Gunmaster45
XM16E1
I just saw the picture you uploaded of the XM16E1. Did you take that picture yourself profesionally like MPM does or did you just edit it together with MPM's pics. Either way it looks great. - Gunmaster45
- I don't think he'll mind TOO much as long as editing his pictures doesn't become a new fad among users. IMO the little things make a movie and it is a shame when people fail to notice these things. I'm not very good with helicopters but that's pretty impressive that you guys got real Hueys. I own WWS on VHS, and I might just have to watch it again now. - Gunmaster45
- That's a really nice picture of a LaFrance M16K. I was actually looking for one myself, but Google didn't give me what I wanted. I believe Jackie Chan also used one in Police Story 3: Supercop, so I'll add it to that page. -MT2008 04:08, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
- BTW, speaking of We Were Soldiers, I remember Mike did an interview where he said that CW actually manufactured the AK-47s used by the NVA in the movie. Did you actually mill the receivers yourselves, or did you start with commercially available receivers (i.e. the PT Legend)? -MT2008 04:21, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

XM16E1 Photo
Thanks! for the note on the XM16E1.

LaFrance Specialties M16K Question
Hi Steve, I'm screencapping The Dead Pool right now and one of the assassin's trying to kill Dirty Harry is wielding an AR-15 pistol which I'm pretty is a LaFrance Specialties M16K, except it has a forward assist, unlike the picture you took, which is a slab-side:
Are there versions of the gun that have an A1-style reviever with a forward assist or can you steer me towards what it would be with an A1-reciever? Here's an image I just made:
I'll probably be done with the page later tonight. - Gunmaster45
- It helps greatly, I'm working on the page now. I'll have it done relatively fast, it is the gun weakest of the DH films. Thanks much. - Gunmaster45
- Thanks! - Gunmaster45
re: Barb Wire
Thanks for the additional info! You should add it to the page.
Also, do you know anything about the P228 from "Barb Wire" (and "Virtuosity"?) Was that another gun that you built at Ellis? -MT2008 21:16, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- It seems to be gone from my talk page now, but thanks for the info on the P228s. Much appreciated. I knew I had seen that type of laser-control grip before, just couldn't remember the brand name off the top of my head. -MT2008 05:10, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Collateral
Hi Steve, I have a quick question for you. On the Collateral page, Matt said that the Jericho 941 in the film was the only gun we see used by the club security guard, I'm assuming because he discussed it with you? Anyway, the gun clearly has a different slide design and trigger guard, so I don't think it is a Jericho. Do you have any information on the matter? - Gunmaster45
- Thanks, but no need to hurry over it. Whenever you can find the paper work is fine, I'm patient. BTW, I had so much free time I got FOUR movies ready to upload. They are:
- Any Which Way You Can (one of Eastwood's less macho films)
I took a huge amount of DVDs out of my box tonight! - Gunmaster45
- Thanks, I really appreciate you finding out what guns was used. - Gunmaster45
Winchester 1892
I reverted your upload over my Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine image because the image you saved over it with is a Winchester 1894 Rifle...
Can you re-upload it again, because I figured if I uploaded it people wouldn't know it is your picture. - Gunmaster45
- No need, I can get the image back for you. - Gunmaster45

Widescreen
If it weren't for all the modern movie pages people made with FULL screen DVDs.... sigh... that would be interesting. Also quite a few films were shown wide screen, but only released full screen (some of the lower B movies from the 1990s for example, including movies that I myself worked on). How would we reconcile the tag "released in widescreen" when we can only get FULL screen "Screenshots" for the movie page. best regards and a Happy Easter MoviePropMaster2008 02:12, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
AMT

Thanks for all the help with weapons IDs! -MT2008 01:28, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- I have a question about Man on Fire. There's something weird about the Glock 34 used by Denzel. Here's a screenshot taken from Legion's Fate's blog:
- You can see that in this shot, the Glock has a Gen 2-style frame, but in the shots which appear on our page, it has a Gen 3 frame with accessory rails.
Re: Dukes of Hazzard, The (TV Series)
Speakeasy804 01:22, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Old movies
For the record, I must say I am delighted that you have become the 'custodian' or 'gate keeper' of classic B&W war and noir crime/gangster films. I don't particularly watch these films myself, so I would never have contributed them, but they ARE an important part of film (and guns in movie) history, and I am happy that you are adding so much rich movie history to IMFDB. MoviePropMaster2008 20:31, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with MPM all the way on this, I think your collection of such classic movies is very impressive and great for imfdb!
- Great, thanks, I appreciate it! That's an interesting and clever way of ID'ing the images, I wish I could do something like that. And I look forward to seeing your job with the Thin Man series; I haven't watched those in awhile but I remember some of them seemed pretty ahead of their time. Speakeasy804 04:46, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
SAG
CDS
Hi! Thanks for that new Colt Detective Special 3rd Gen picture. Perhaps I can get your opinion on something that's piqued my curiosity...
John and I did some work on a page for the movie Hard Boiled, but we weren't sure what kind of snub-nose revolvers are used by the CID undercover inspectors in the movie. We IDed them as Taurus Model 85s, but do you think they're actually CDS 3rd Gens, like the one you pictured?
Here are John's screencaps:
If I could your opinion really quickly, that would be awesome. Thanks! -MT2008 03:55, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
- OK, thanks, just wasn't 100% sure. -MT2008 20:19, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Re: Lupara
Yes, that would be incorrect if they made a Lupara page. I'm on it... -MT2008 03:43, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Re:
OK, I moved it. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. That move I mentioned to you a while ago is coming up in a few days, so I've spent this last week (and the week before) trying to do everything in Austin that I never got around to doing earlier. I've had basically zero time for IMFDB. -MT2008 01:31, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and one other thing, do you want to help with the page info on those launchers? I don't know too much about them myself, whereas I realize you've probably worked with them quite a bit (since CW were the armorers on T3). -MT2008 01:57, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Taurus Model 66 in Pulp Fiction
I noticed that on the Pulp Fiction page, you said that the "hand cannon" used was a Taurus Model 66. I just wanted to confirm this since it's a big subject of debate on that page and I just added a few caps today and I want to try and clean the page up and move all the debates to the discussion page. Speakeasy804 00:56, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks; I noticed all the Thin Man pages, they look great! Also, I was curious if the other Pulp Fiction guns were correct, I had basically the same labels as were on before but someone on the page was wondering the MAC-10 was a MAC-11 and the revolver I have labeled as a Smith & Wesson Model 36 appears to be a hammerless model. I'm looking forward to the new B&W contributions! Speakeasy804 00:12, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks again, I greatly appreciate all the help there! Speakeasy804 04:13, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey, don't worry about it haha; at least we know for sure now! Thanks for checking on that one! Speakeasy804 02:22, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ha I can't even imagine what that'd be like, I'll bet you've worked with a pretty good amount of actors in that capacity. I hate to ask but you're much better at those than I am. Thanks and keep up the good work! Speakeasy804 02:40, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Appaloosa
I finally got Appaloosa, I just watched it (great film) and am going to start screencapping now. I was very impressed by the 8 Gauge, excellent work. In the special features, they talk about it but never credit you as the designer :(. Anyway, I'll be sure to give you the credit you deserve when I revamp the page. - Gunmaster45
- Thanks, I'll try to get the screencaps done too. BTW, was it just me, or did they keep the original gun shot sounds used during filming for the final cut? Usually you hear the standard issue gunfire sound effects but there was something different about this. The guns didn't have the echo like in Heat though. - Gunmaster45
- Hey Steve, I got Appaloosa done yesterday, so if you have time do you think you could check it over and make sure I got everything right? Thanks, looking forward to the 8 Gauge photos. - Gunmaster45
- The photos look great Steve, thanks for your knowledge on the matter. Guns of the Old West's got nothing on IMFDB thanks to you. - Gunmaster45
- Hey Steve, I got Appaloosa done yesterday, so if you have time do you think you could check it over and make sure I got everything right? Thanks, looking forward to the 8 Gauge photos. - Gunmaster45

I will talk to Bunni about it, but not sure how he's going to feel. If there's a consensus that we should not allow anonymous users to edit, then I'm all for it, but I guess it comes down to his decision, since he owns the site.
Also, should I recommend you for an Admin position? I think at this point, you more than qualify! -MT2008 19:39, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

7.7mm Arisaka Type 02 Paratrooper Takedown rifle
Re: Joe Kidd
The Lighning and Thunderer are my weak points. I'd assume the Cimmaron Bird's Head could go on the SAA page, but adding things like Uberti replicas is usually only necessary when we don't have anything better, and MPM uploaded genuine Colts. - Gunmaster45
Calico M100
MPM
Admin
Just made you an administrator on MT2008's recommendation. WikiSysop 21:57, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: Deadwood
Thank you for the compliments, and for adding the information to the page such as the Rossi Overland and the Trapdoor Springfields! It's a great show with a great selection of firearms which are, as you said, not always the typical ones seen in similar shows. I just finished the page today so if you see anything else, feel free to make corrections. Congratulations on Admin status! Speakeasy804 00:40, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
La France Calicos
Hey, Steve, I noticed you were talking to MPM about the La France-converted Calico pistols. I think they appeared in the TV show "Homeboys in Outer Space" - do you remember if Ellis supplied the weapons for that show?
Also, thanks for the picture. And it's good to have you on board as an admin. -MT2008 03:21, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Calico
thanks for the update. Now I understand. I am really looking forward to seeing if this appeared in anything. It looks pretty cool like that. I will also contact you more, but now I'm off to deal with an emergency. :) regards MPM2008
RE:
Ah, OK, thanks. I actually wasn't 100% sure, but in the screenshots from "Standoff", the receiver looked somewhat FN MAG-ish to me. But I see what you mean...I didn't think they'd turn an M60 upside-down!
Thanks for the correction on that rocket launcher, too. I wasn't sure what it was. Also, do you by chance have any idea what those Unknown SMGs are? The Smallville page has better pictures of them. I've been trying to find out what they are for a long time, and I can't tell. -MT2008 23:59, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, although they might be pretty hard to find. MPM2008 was unable to ID them; he thinks they might be something manufactured in Canada that was never imported to this country (Viper and Smallville were both filmed in Canada). Given their relatively crude appearance, I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually something homemade by the shows' armorer. -MT2008
Re: Layout
Hmmm, I hadn't thought about it, but it sounds like a good idea. Can you show me a link to the Motorsport Wiki so that I can check it out? -MT2008 16:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- Steve,
- I like it! If not, might be best to just have title, actor, and character for now. -MT2008 18:47, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm totally for it, but I think the best thing to do would be to start a topic in the forum, with the image you uploaded on my Talk Page posted. If you want, I'll get it started. -MT2008 02:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- NP on the topic. I would like to do it, but the only thing is, it will take us a long time to get all of the thousands of gun pages on this site (many with multiple weapons, like the 1911 and M16 pages) re-formatted this way. Should be start with the most popular gun pages (1) and then work our way down the list? -MT2008 15:18, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, cool. I say go for it. Let's see how it works out. A lot of people here are afraid to take risks with formatting, but if it works, I think we can win them over. -MT2008 16:57, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Commando Tranq. Pistol
I can grab a shot of it when I have time. I figured we don't usually document tranq. guns but I see on Legions of Fate's site he has it documented. I've seen the model tranq gun IDed on other pages on IMFDB so I guess tranq. guns are okay now. - Gunmaster45
Mauser
I'm not a mauser expert but I think that the Czech BRNO VZ24 Mauser is identical enough to the K98 to have it on it's page, right? I look forward to your expertise on this. MoviePropMaster2008 20:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Honoring Actors who have passed away
:) MPM2008
Re: Three Days of the Condor
Good idea! I'll grab one of Wicks with his suppressed 1911. The Condor page was one of my first, do you happen to know offhand if I missed any guns in it? Speakeasy804 06:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Re: Wilkinson Arms Linda Pistol
Yeah, I think it would be great if we had some good pics. A Google image search turns up relatively poor-quality pictures of both the carbine and pistol, so we would have bragging rights for only good pics of those guns on the 'Net. Haha...anyway, I guess it would best to group them together, since that's what we usually do with weapons that are the same basic design (i.e. SP89 and HK94 both go on MP5 page).
And wow...you really seem to know a lot of the manufacturers personally. I'm always amazed at how well-connected you are. -MT2008 03:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, wow, you really built those? My contact at ISS sent me the pictures of the guns and mentioned to me that they were under-used. He also told me that Sgt. Tom Minder was the guy who pulled the trigger during filming. He seemed to know you pretty well; he says you do work for all of the armories, not just CW. -MT2008 20:14, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Hooking up for pics
I don't know if you check your private messages anymore, but I was still wondering about hooking up for pics. It would be awesome to get some of your beautiful custom stuff! :D I sure wish you could hook me up with Galotti to get pics of his stuff! ;) hahaha. I still haven't wandered back to CW because of work and family issues. I'm lining up a shoot that I'm sure GM45 will love.... one of the biggest private collections of original Western guns (i.e. not replicas but original 1st gen western revolvers and long guns in pristine condition, not the beaters we have in rental inventory hahahaha ;) ) west of the Mississippi. They are being yanked out from behind museum glass cases for the shoot for IMFDB. That's pretty exciting. I am trying just for classic examples of original historical guns. Anyway, feel free to PM me when you get a chance to try to re-schedule something. Thanks MPM2008
The M1903A1s
That was a really good gun you build there. Congraturations but what is "Rock"?-Oliveira 22:14, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Memorial Photos
Thanks for the compliment regarding the Lee Marvin photo. I'm trying to go with great photos of the actors. I imagine many of them are old portfolio shots.They deserve that. The only exception is the Charles Bronson photo. I liked the tough guy shot with him smoking a cigarette. Very seventies and very tough looking. Well and the photo of Charlton Heston at Stembridge Gun Rental picking out his guns for Will Penny. The photo just fit Mr. Heston as well. Anyway thanks again. --Jcordell 00:02, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
OK, I need your help
I've been watching some movies which allegedly feature the FN Minimi/M249 Paratrooper, and realized the guns in question may be a different LMG. If you want examples of what I mean, check these out.
Here's an M249 Para model taken by MPM:
...and here are some movies/TV shows which allegedly feature this gun:
In all of these movies, the guns look almost like Minimi variants, but something's not right about the receivers and front sights on them. Which leads me to suspect they may not be M249s or Minimi variants at all, but rather something else. What do you think? -MT2008 01:50, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Aha! I should have known. Also, it seems Ron Blecker or members of his team were the armorers and military advisers on all of these shows, so that's the common denominator. Well, when I get back, I think I had better make a page for the Daewoo K3, using the new format.
- Speaking of which, I think the "Note" column is a good idea, though maybe we should make it a little wider? -MT2008 02:10, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, so far, I have found almost a dozen movie/TV pages where we mis-IDed Daewoo K3s as Minimis. -Matt
Weapon pages
Steve, the new layout for the weapon pages looks great! I'm glad you suggested that and if you need any help converting the pages, let me know. I think it's a great idea and it'll help imfdb look more and more professional and comprehensive! Speakeasy804 02:35, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- One other question...should we continue to italicize the titles of the movies/TV shows/games, exactly as we did in the old format? Also, I'm working on the Daewoo K3 page now. If you can help me out with info, it would be appreciated. For instance, do you remember who was the U.S./Canadian importer for the K3? Was it the same company that imported the K1 and K2 in both civvie and LEO versions? -MT2008 03:15, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I guess I'm just pretty surprised because I figured the M249 would be the cheaper gun to acquire, seeing as it's manufactured on these shores. Why were the K3s cheaper? Were the M249s just not being offered for anyone besides the military at the time? I would love to write a better summary on the Daewoo K3 page explaining why they're used as M249 stand-ins, but since I'm not an armorer, I'm scared I might get details wrong.
- If you don't mind taking a picture of one of the vismodded K3s, that would really be awesome. I'm going to have to look more closely, but I have a feeling we may have mis-IDed the K3s on several more pages (Swordfish, for instance). Also, while I'm at it, thanks for the new 1911 pictures you uploaded recently. -MT2008 03:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Rock Island 1911
I think I have one, I will try to get a shot of it, but I am getting a little busier with work. Doesn't the one in the movie have the Colt medallion on the grips though? On one of the screenshots seems to have that on the grip. Is that a different pistol? MPM
Template
Hey Phoenixent, I want to say great work on the template you created, it makes pages look better and neater. I complimented MPM2008 on it, but he said you orginally created it, so I came here. Also, awesome work on all the pages you created so far, it's great to have another armorer on the site.--Alienqueen11 22:50, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
RE:
Thanks! If you find one of the vis-modded K3s that looks like an M249 Paratrooper, that would be great. We'd be the only site on the 'Net with such a picture. -MT2008 00:12, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Templates
I also want to know if lines can be put between entries to seperate them more.--Alienqueen11 04:34, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Template
More on Templates
Hi, Steve,
I think the way you did the [1911]] page (and thanks for taking time and doing that, BTW) is pretty much perfect and should be the standard.
- After looking at the test templates, I really like the one with each bit of information in its own box.
- Hey Steve, check out the Daniel Roebuck page to see the box-style format in use. I like it! - Gunmaster45

- It's not bad but I still kind of like the boxes personally because everything is both vertically and horizontally seperated, where as the newest one only horizontally seperates the entries. But of course we'll have to hear what everyone else thinks before a final decision is made. My vote goes for the boxes :) - Gunmaster45
- Sorry for the late response Steve, I just got back from a four-day trip to LA. I really like the new template and my vote is for chronological order as well. I don't have much much input but I just wanted to say I like the organization the template adds! Speakeasy804 04:45, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Just a note
The Wilkinson Arms carbines/pistols
Nice! Those really are the best pictures of the guns anyone's put on the 'Net, anywhere. Off the top of your head, do you recall any other movies/TV shows they've appeared in? It seems to be a pretty rare weapon. -MT2008 03:00, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
And Then There Were None
Hey, I just got two caps from an old 1945 B&W called And Then There Were None. Before I build the page, I wanted to check with you because I think the revolver used was a Webley British Bulldog. There's only one shot of it that's clear so I'll send it to you here.
Thanks! - Speakeasy804 21:47, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Sadly that is one of the Eastwood movies I don't own, but since I just got a ton of Birthday money, I plan to buy some of the DVDs I've desperately been needing to screencap. I'll add Tightrope to my list. What do you need the screencaps for? - Gunmaster45
RE: K3
Steve,
Thanks so much for finding that info for me, and pictures would definitely be much appreciated if you can find the K3s that were mocked up as M249 Paras. I did my own crude version of this gun using MS Paint, but obviously, the real deal would be preferable.
Also, how do you feel about changing the Template a little bit more so that TV Show and Episode are separate categories? Or do you think we should keep it as-is? -MT2008 12:36, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Public Enemies
Hi Steve, after watching Public Enemies and doing some work to the page, I was hoping you could answer some questions on the guns in the movie, since I see you took pictures of some of the screen used props.
- Were Johnny Depps M1911A1 pistols in the film chambered in .38 Super? Or any character's 1911 for that matter?
- The page lists the M1928A1 Thompson being in the film. I never saw it in the configuration shown on the page, were they mocked up as 1921s by adding foregrips? Also, I never saw a 1903 Hammer Colt, where was that used?
- Do you know any of the revolvers used in the movie? I couldn't ID them in the theater and can't remember them well.
- The .38 Machine Pistol. I gotta know more about this thing. Who built it, was it actually in .38 Super, all that stuff would be awesome.
So if you have any info, please let me know. Thanks. :) - Gunmaster45
- Thanks, the information was very useful.
- I mis-read your Thompson post, I get it now ;) - Gunmaster45
- Yeah, we'll have to wait for the DVD for better IDs.

Does anyone know who suplied the Thompsons for the movie? I really want that laynard attachment but don't know where to get it.
Test Template Page
Recently I completed formatting the FN Minimi,FN FiveseveN.The G36 article is almost complete with the exception of the G36K section.Hope to complete the Glock and MP5 article soon for which I may need your help too.I also agree with MT2008 that there should be a seperate column for episodes in the television section.-SB2296
- Actually, I'm beginning to think maybe I shouldn't have made my suggestion about the Television column, because the problem is that when guns appear on shows, they tend to appear on MANY episodes, not just one. In which case, the only thing the column will say is, "Various episodes" or something to that extent. I think a better idea is to just briefly mention episodes and other details (such as how the character uses the gun - i.e. "Standard sidearm of ______") in the "Notes" column.
- Also, I am trying to get the M16 page updated to the new format (which is going to take a LONG time, as you can imagine). Hope to get it done this holiday. At some point, I also want to work on the Beretta 92 pistol series page. -MT2008 15:15, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
The Shadow
I'm watching The Shadow on TV right now, and I gotta say, those "Silver Heat" pistols are very cool. I also read your interview from the page, and I like the insite you gave. After watching the scene on the bridge, I think it's pretty funny how the drum flew off the guy's Thompson. And Alec Baldwin's problem with the safeties was an interesting fact too (you could see he kind of let the pistol's noses hang when he was shooting them). Anyway, nice work, sometimes I forget I'm talking to a guy who in my opinion, is very famous. :) - Gunmaster45
- Cool, can't wait to see.
- Awesome, thanks.

I'm back briefly
Just dealing with a bunch of Indies who want guns... And as you well know, sometimes the production has no idea what they want ... and when they want it. Ugh! Armorer page idea
1911 adaptation
As a film armorer and fan of older movies I was hopeing you could answer a question I had on blank-adapted automatics in older films. In alot of older movies I have seen automatic pistols are pointed and waved around but most actual shooting is done with revolvers. I read years ago about how 1911 pistols could not be adapted to cycle blanks untill fairly recently, but how well did other automatics handle blanks in the 1920's-40's era films. Also, if you could tell me when exactly the process for altering 1911 pistols was developed it would be greatly appreciated.
help
Can you really identify this gun? I don't know what this gun is in MI2.
I don't know what it is and confused it as a Steyr AUG HBar since the character is moving to much. - Kenny99
Follow up
Thank you for your responce to my question concerning blank adaption for 1911 pistols.
Transformers vehicle guns
Acording to Kenny99 in the film Transformers:Revenge of the fallen there are General Dynamic GAU-19/A's mounted on the NEST vehicles. I've seen the HMMWV mount for the system and I don't remember seeing anything but M134D's on the NEST vehicles. I'm just trying to clear things up as if they are somehow GAU-19's it would be a film first. Rockwolf66 16:32, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Colt 1878 8 gauge like the one in Appaloosa?
Steve, I must commend you on your excellent work on the 1878 8 gauge, used in Appaloosa, It looks fantastic! I'm an avid firearms collector and shooter. After seeing the movie, I would really like to have one of these for my collection! Would you be willing to make a working model for me to buy? Could you tell me the barrel length of the shotgun? Thank you very much for you time. --Matt 17:32, 9 August 2009 (UTC) mrwhite1
Gun ID Help needed
Any idea what this pistol is? I think it may be a Star variant, but I have no idea. MPM2008
Welcome back!
Hey, Steve, it's really great to hear from you again! I was wondering where you went, though I figured that it had something to do with a lot of new films requiring your services. Hope to talk more soon. -Matt

Obscure colt revolvers
Hey, I was wondering if you could get me some pics of some very rare colt python models like the silhouette, the grizzly, the hunter, and some others as well as some pics of the .44 automag that was used in sudden impact. and if you have time (im so sorry this list is so damn long) a pic of a mossberg 500 with the wood pump.
Hi again!
Long time no see...I take it things have been pretty busy over there?
I tried re-directing King Kong (1933) to just King Kong (which is OK by IMFDB rules...we usually don't put the date next to the title of the original movie, only the remakes). And it's still in the B category. I will ask Bunni about this, as it's probably another server error. We changed servers recently and have had a large number of problems with the site (including issues with uploading and deleting pictures, accessing accounts, and so on). -MT2008 00:55, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Out of curiosity, which version of the DVD do you have? I know my parents have one version of the DVD in their collection that was released around the time that the remake King Kong (2005) came out. I'm not sure what the quality differences are between the different versions. -MT2008 02:40, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi, how are you?
Long time no see, but it's good to have you back! How is everything? -MT2008 21:03, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw the pictures of the Colt Series 80 used by De Niro in Machete, and the guns from The Book of Eli, as well as the UMP from Iron Man. MPM took some really neat pics after his last trip over there. -MT2008 17:40, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Hey Karnes
I need help with the Mosin Nagants in We Were Soldiers. Could you tell me what model are those Mosins?

XM16E1
I think what you've said makes sense. There must be at least some XM16E1s in the industry, which would explain movies like The Green Berets which have featured them (after all, in the 1960s, there weren't any AR clone makers who would have built the M16A1-style lower with the ribbing around the mag release button).
Also, how are you doing? You seem to be pretty busy lately. Is business going pretty well? -MT2008 15:57, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
Transformers 3
Interesting that the production company actually made an 'official' facebook page and uploaded all those Behind the Scenes shots. Should we excise IMFDB of the pics when supposedly the pics have been released through a social networking site? Just curious. Now I've had BTS shots that I did not approve of me working on stuff end up on social networking sites but those were of crew who were snapping their own pics which should not have been allowed. But these really do look like officially released pics, so I can't really slam a member for forwarding them. :) Good to see you around the site. MoviePropMaster2008
- Okay. I was SNOOKERED. Apparently this member LIAM who is moviemaster1993 is a fanboy who created the facebook page himself, even though the page says the "OFFICIAL" transformers 3 facebook page, thus falsely implying that it is sanctioned by the studio. NOT being a sanctioned facebook page, immediately makes it suspect in my eyes and I vote for deletion, but since you are working on it, I trust YOUR judgment on the matter. You said that since it is still in production, that it should not be listed. The only reason why I did not ban it immediately was because I thought it was an officially sanctioned page. It is not. But I await your call on this. You can delete it, or any one of the rest of us MODS can delete it, but I hope to hear your opinion before we do. "No Harm done?" or "delete" ? - Thanks for the information Steve, always appreciated. I see the belt feeds now, neat set up. - Gunmaster45
Addendum
I just saw your comment about the XM16E1 rifles for WWS to MT2008 (I usually DON'T read other user's talk pages). If there is anyone who can correct info that I put, it's you :) I won't question it! Especially for a show you worked ON! hahaha LOL. I just posted that info because that's what I remember Mike P saying when I asked him about it. But I've learned alot that what people say in passing, and in person, may not be exactly the answer that the questioner was expecting (or remembering). :) For example, I'm pretty Sure Matt (MT2008) is right about the Berettas, but I'm not going to try to correct Mike on the way things are tagged in the glass case. ;) He's really friendly but I'm sure you've seen him irritated. LOL. I really like Mike and DON'T want to annoy him. Hope you got some pics of the screen used Predator pieces :) MoviePropMaster2008
RE: Predators
Thanks for the info, Steve! Do you have any pictures of the guns when they were still in the shop? Also, should I ask my ISS contact for more info about this (just in case the same thing happens that happened with the Public Enemies guns? -MT2008 02:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Hanzo's Beretta in Predators
Hey, I recently heard from another member of the site that you build the custom Beretta 92FS that Hanzo uses in Predators. If this was true, I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions. First, was the compensator a custom job, or is it available on the market? And my second question, his Beretta appears to be a two tone model, with a blued slide and barrel, but a stainless frame. Is this correct? Acora 16:07, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you for your response. It's helped clear things up for me. Acora 18:25, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Terminator Salvation
Thanks Steve, but I've only updated the HK416 and the M4s on that page so far, but I plan to revamp the whole page entirely with better screenshots soon and fill in missing guns. If there are any more obscure guns from the film I may need your help to ID them. Like aside from the T-600 DA Miniguns, I saw what looked like a GE Minigun on the tanker truck front, and another Minigun that was mounted on a resistance chopper had a unique muzzle break I'm not familiar with. Also, I saw a refugee woman with an unknown compact 1911 pistol, and I can't ID the AA guns on the back of the tanker. If you know any of those let me know if you can. Thank you. - Gunmaster45
1911's in films
At least that's what I could get from looking over this auction list [2].
- Dang I'm going to have to add a lot more info to the disclaimer.
- Yeah when you told me about converting 38 Supers to 9mm blanks it made think of the gun in Public Enemies.
- A history on the armories of the past sounds like a great idea, it would be a worthwhile feature here. Original Prop has a few articles from old magazines on Stembridge. 3 It was cool to see some of the actors like William Holden and others hanging around the inventory. --Predator20 04:38, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
HK45 predators
Hello,
Could you tell me how you got the compensator mounted flush to the slide of the HK 45 in Predators?
Was it a fully funtional prop?
- The compensator was built so it could use the threads in the barrel that are for the BFA. I machined the comp to blend with the slide per customers request. The weapon is a fully functioning blank operated pistol was were the other blank pistols with comps used on the film.
- That's is correct but the setup is different on a blank pistol due to the internal thread for the BFA so we could not thread the outside for a nut so we made a barrel extension using the the internal threads of the BFA. --phoenixent 15:24, 20 March 2011 (CDT)
Do you have any images of the gun with compensator? --Sauerkret 10:35, 11 July 2011 (CDT)
- Sorry the only photos I have are the slide assembly with the comp mounted on it... --phoenixent 19:31, 17 November 2011 (CST)
Would you be willing to share them?--Sauerkret 16:25, 12 March 2012 (CDT)
- I have no issue posting the photo here on my talk page. I would think that the complete weapon would be best for the film page if we can ever get that one. --phoenixent 10:17, 13 March 2012 (CDT)
Awesome, thanks in advance --Sauerkret 14:41, 13 March 2012 (CDT)
Battle: Los Angeles
Are the armorer for Battle: Los Angeles? The reason why I asked is because of your major contribution to movie weapons supplying and the portrayal and appearance of the U.S. Marine Corps in that film was very realistic. - Kenny99 14:56, 23 October 2011 (CDT)
- I did manufacture some items for Battle LA and also worked on the re-shoot of the ending sequence but I was not the armorer for the film. That entire move except for the re-shoot was done in Louisiana with several top LA armorers and the Technical Adviser on the film was a former Marine with a number of films to his credit. --phoenixent 19:21, 17 November 2011 (CST)
Transformers:Dark of the Moon miniguns
Are you sure that the car mounted miniguns are Dillon M134Ds as opposed to GE M134s? They have the normal GE barrel clamp, so are you saying that they are Dillon's that have had the barrel clamp/flash suppressor replaced with the original old style barrel clamps? --commando552 16:58, 18 November 2011 (CST)
- I should be sure as I built the mounts for all three Wreckers and installed the weapons. We used the old GE parts for the looks as they are interchangeable. --phoenixent 18:08, 18 November 2011 (CST)
- Thanks. Without the tell-tale barrel clamps it is pretty hard to tell the difference. --commando552 18:40, 18 November 2011 (CST)
- No problem.. The miniguns used on Battleship and Fast Five are GE's that have been upgraded. --Steve

Kampfpistole (Z)
Thanks a lot, --PeeWee055 16:37, 4 January 2012 (CST)

Type 3 Heavy Machine Gun
Is there a reason you added Television and Video Game tables to the Type 3 Heavy Machine Gun page when it hasn't appeared in any TV shows or Video Games? --Zackmann08 11:40, 8 May 2012 (CDT)
- I just thought that the policy was to add the tables when you add the occurrence(s), not to just have an empty table sitting there. --Zackmann08 18:05, 8 May 2012 (CDT)
