The Taurus PT900 pistol series refers to a set of semi-automatic pistols manufactured by the Brazilian company Forjas Taurus. The models in this series were chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .380 ACP and .357 SIG. The series consisted of seven variants and featured both single stack and double stack options.
The full-size variants included the PT908, the PT909 and the PT945. The compact variants included the PT911, the PT940 and the PT957. There was also a subcompact variant, the PT938. The first pistol in the series was the full-sized single stack 9mm, the PT908. The PT909 was a double stack version of the PT908, set up to accept 10 round magazines. The PT-909 is an improved and newer variant of the PT-911 which has a slightly longer grip that will allow it to accept 17 round PT92 magazines. The PT940 is a PT911 in .40 S&W, the PT945 is a beefed-up PT908 chambered in .45 ACP, the PT938 is a more compact version of the PT909 and the PT957 is a PT-908 in .357 SIG.
The series was introduced in the early 1990s with the intent of being a higher-quality design offered by Taurus, which was known for budget friendly pistols. Mechanically, the designs are interesting, as they are sort of a hybrid of both SIG-Sauer locked breech barrel design and the trigger, safety lockwork from the Beretta 92/Taurus PT92. Visually, they resemble a Taurus PT92 series frame with a SIG-Sauer P220 series slide. All the models are currently discontinued as of 2011, except for the PT938 in .380 ACP, which is only being offered for the Brazilian market. However, certain variants such as the PT940 and PT945 continue to be prized by collectors, and the PT945's appearance in the 1998 film U.S. Marshals (with Tommy Lee Jones referring to it as a "nickel-plated sissy pistol") is considered somewhat iconic.

The Taurus PT945 is the largest and heaviest variant in the series, essentially a scaled-up variant of the PT908 in .45 ACP. Possibly due to its notable appearance in certain motion pictures, such as U.S. Marshals, the PT945 is the most highly sought-after pistol in the series and generally sells for higher prices.

Taurus PT911 with blued finish - 9x19mm

The Taurus PT900 Series and variants can be seen in the following films, television series, video games, and anime used by the following actors:
