The Crown Prince is a 2006 television film that deals with the last ten years of the life of the Austrian Crown Prince Rudolf von Habsburg. Austria 1879: With his liberal political visions of a united Europe, the young Crown Prince Rudolf is an outsider at the court of Emperor Franz-Joseph. But in his private life, too, the heir to the throne struggles in vain for the affection of his conservative father. Under pressure from his parents, Rudolf agrees to a marriage of convenience with Stephanie of Belgium for political reasons. But his true love belongs to another woman: the young baroness Mary Vetsera.
The 1968 movie Mayerling tells a similar story in which Omar Sharif alongside Catherine Deneuve and James Mason, embodies the crown prince Rudolf.
The following weapons were used in the film The Crown Prince:
Handguns
Gasser-Kropatschek M1876
A Gasser-Kropatschek revolver is seen with Crown Prince Rudolf (Max von Thun).
Flintlock Pistol
An Oriental-style Flintlock Pistol is seen hanging on a wall.
Rifles
Werndl M1867
Some Werndl M1867 rifles are used by Austro-Hungarian soldiers.
Mannlicher M1895
During a maneuver in 1888, Austro-Hungarian soldiers are seen with anachronistic Mannlicher M1895 rifles which stand in for the M1886 and M1888 variants. These rifles are correctly called "Mannlicher" by Emperor Wilhelm II (Robert Stadlober). However, it is hard to tell if these rifles are the original or the 1930 converted version.
Flintlock Musket
What appears to be Ottoman Muskets are seen hanging on a wall.
Shotguns
Double Barreled Shotgun
Crown Prince Rudolf and other hunters can be seen using 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotguns.
Drilling
A Drilling is used by Count Bombelles (Karl Markovics) and Archduke Johann Salvator (Fritz Karl) during the hunting.
Single Barreled Shotgun
Some hunters are also seen with Single Barreled Shotgun. Emperor Franz Joseph (Klaus Maria Brandauer) and Rudolf use them, as well.
Other
Cannons
Several cannons can be seen.
